The only reason I play theme park MMO is due to my affinity for pet classes. Only way I got to experience BLU (Not a pet class, but usually a fun class), was by completing an entire story arc……..
Was it difficult? No. However, that is a lot to play a class, that is a$$. Trying to avoid any BST gatekeeping, but unsure if it will even be released this year.
Was a main BST in XI. Perhaps the best iteration of the class (Like most XI jobs). Catch and Release were groovy though (V). BST always seemed like Summoners that went the natural route, instead of the magical road. V BST feels like that. Release was very Summoner -esque. XI BST & SMN both had interactive pets. It was like…….

BST in XI was the first unofficial limited job. It was meant to be played soloed, per the producers Q and A. BST would go places no other party would, to avoid taming their mobs.
So, BST were experts in traversing dangerous zones and helping poor lost players. They also did not fear aggro, because BST could tame or charm mobs.
MMO players really don't understand how dangerous XI zones were lol. It was the most dangerous of any MMO. Some mobs were too fast to out run, some would blood aggro (Low hp brings an army of undead towards players), or others could detect with true sight or sound meaning there was no way to avoid them really. Also, BST couldn't charm undead.
This type of immersion is what made BST special in XI. Hopefully XIV can replicate it to some degree. Although I think crazy $hit like whips and mounted combat would be neat.
