    What Is The News On Beastmaster?

    So, what is the news on Beastmaster? Was kind of like Tebow being announced as the starting QB.

    The only reason I play theme park MMO is due to my affinity for pet classes. Only way I got to experience BLU (Not a pet class, but usually a fun class), was by completing an entire story arc……..

    Was it difficult? No. However, that is a lot to play a class, that is a$$. Trying to avoid any BST gatekeeping, but unsure if it will even be released this year.

    Was a main BST in XI. Perhaps the best iteration of the class (Like most XI jobs). Catch and Release were groovy though (V). BST always seemed like Summoners that went the natural route, instead of the magical road. V BST feels like that. Release was very Summoner -esque. XI BST & SMN both had interactive pets. It was like…….

    “This Summoner uses axes”

    “This Summoner uses staves”

    BST in XI was the first unofficial limited job. It was meant to be played soloed, per the producers Q and A. BST would go places no other party would, to avoid taming their mobs.

    So, BST were experts in traversing dangerous zones and helping poor lost players. They also did not fear aggro, because BST could tame or charm mobs.

    MMO players really don't understand how dangerous XI zones were lol. It was the most dangerous of any MMO. Some mobs were too fast to out run, some would blood aggro (Low hp brings an army of undead towards players), or others could detect with true sight or sound meaning there was no way to avoid them really. Also, BST couldn't charm undead.

    This type of immersion is what made BST special in XI. Hopefully XIV can replicate it to some degree. Although I think crazy $hit like whips and mounted combat would be neat.

    Nothing. There's been no real news about it at all. All we know is it's going to be a part of the Dawntrail era and that it will be a Limited Job.

    Apart from that, nothing is known and been released. Personally I doubt it will be available at DT's release, but will be added in a patch later on, probably the first numbered main content patch around the end of the year, like how BLU was added much later on in SB's life.

    The limited job patches are 7.15 and 7.45. One of those will be blue mage, the other beastmaster. My prediction? 7.15 will probably be blue mage to give them lots of time to develop beastmaster.

    If it follows 6.15, then 7.15 will be 6 months after release, around late December or early January.

    But of course, I was predicting 7.45. If it follows 6.45, it will be around 1 year and 7-8 months.

    Blue mage itself released in 4.5, so if it is actually 6.5, it will be around 1 year and 10 months.

    I mean people who played MMORPGs long enough ago probably get it. But over time developers realized people want to kill them in 1 hit. They certainly always took me a while to fight or killed me when I've tried the game.

    Doubtful. They do try to take inspiration from other FF games, especially FF11, but knowing the game as I do, what do I think SE might do?
    • Beast book (instead of a spell book)
    • Generic aoe and single target that gets replaced with the beast's.
    • Weaken an enemy and grab it in a net like Island Sanctuary to catch it.
    That's probably it. Would be nice if we had a whole breeding system, and had to teach them attacks, and feed them, and pet bars, and mount them like a chocobo. But this is FFXIV we're talking about. The only thing they put this sort of sophistication into is Field Operations (or content that similarly have unique User Interfaces like Island Sanctuary or Deep Dungeons).

    If you are expecting anything like XI, you will be disappointed. This game is not XI. It has distanced itself from that style of gameplay.

    Just like ff14 blue mage I have a feeling ff14 BST will be nothing like the ff11 counterpart and most likely be a pokemon catch them all type of minigame type job with something similar to masked Carnivale. It will also probably most likely release by 7.45 the latest but not sure until they release more info for it at some point.

    At Fan fest they described it as coming in the latter half of 7.x so 7.4 onwards does seem more likely. Plus if it were coming sooner they'd probably have more to tell us.

    As much as I'd like to know more all I can do is spin my wheels uselessly with what-ifs and wild speculation. I hope they explain some of its mechanics sooner rather than later, even if it is quite a long ways off. I also want to see the job icon, just because.
