I managed to finally get the title and this was the most miserable grind of my life, and I've done Savage with public parties. The real problem is not the lag per se - I have 180ms ping and after a few hundred runs I managed to learn the timings of the patterns - the real problem is that you can never be as good as someone with zero lag (or a cheater). The other problem is that being eliminated early means you can't practise the following stages.
I strongly suggest, should this mode ever return, that the final reward from it - the title be converted to using the totem system, and people be allowed to progress through all stages even if they're not in the top X finishers. That is:
1. If you are eliminated, that just moves you to a losers' bracket where you still progress to the next stage as long as you finish the stage within the time limit. Time limits should be adjusted down by 1/3 to 1/2 to make them a proper challenge.
2. A totem should be given both for finishing under the time limit and for winning a stage. That is:
- If you finish under the time limit - 1 totem.
- If you qualify - 1 more totem.
If you get eliminated, then you can only get the time limit totem on the remaining stages. The only time you do not get a totem is if you do not manage to finish stage 1 under the time limit. In this case, the winner of the event would get 6 totems. Or 1 totem for under the time limit, and 1/2/3 for qualifying on the respective stage to make winning more meaningful - in which case the winner gets 9 totems at the end.
3. Make the title cost the number of totems you get from winning 100 times.
4. Maybe add some other rewards that can be got with the totems, so there is an incentive to play more.
This would change the mode from the current state where it's hair-pullingly frustrating to a fun, mixed PvP/PvE mode that challenges players' movement abilities.
