With Activision and Bungies recent wins against cheat providers it is time SE's

legal team get in on the money tree and get their millions that they deserve.

If you are interested the cases are Bungie vs AimJunkies and Activision vs EngineOwning. This is Activision's second win and bungies case went to a Jury which makes it a landmark decision that will make it much easier to sue (and win) cheat providers in the future.

Some cheats have well over 4 million downloads and if SE wanted to sue for the amount of money that Activision did they would get over 800 million dollars in their suit - Activision sued for 200 dollars per download. Of course they would never see most of that money but the stage has been set to finally, legally, put down these cheat providers and protect their IP in the USA.

If they wanted too, they would have started long ago or made a example of billboard

They do regularly hunt down cheaters, botters and RMT people and post weekly notices on how many they caught. Though most of it is probably just RMT advertising bots.

Tell me you know nothing about how the legal system works without telling me you know nothing about how the legal system works.

These two cases were just won by these companies. It now makes it MUCH easier to win for other companies to go after cheat software providers/distributors. In the Bungie case it deals more with IP tampering so this could also effect games that don't allow mods in their ToS such as Street Fighter 6 or of course XIV. Anything that changes the IP of the game is now illegal and thanks to the jury the precedent is set. All SE would have to do is prove that it is happening, send a S&D, then sue the living **** out of the people behind the mod programs for infringing on their IP. Sure it might be a slight oversimplification of course but one that most of the big gaming publishers have done at some point or another. Plus there is nintendo out there suing everyone for even mentioning mario.

... and we do know that all cheat providers for XIV all live in countries where they can be sued, I assume?

Are XIV cheats sold for money? People are paying to zoom out real big? I've only heard of some brazen modders putting a price tag on a model they ripped from somewhere else.

I assume they'd need to be for-profit cheats to be sueable. If they aren't selling anything then it'd be hard to prove damages.

So they all live in china and russia or iran? If that is the case you have to ask yourself why you would allow your PC to have software from those countries. So yes most of the world respects US IP law.

That is why I said the Bungie win is such a big deal if you bothered to read my other post. It has to do with IP and not just the selling of cheats. https://www.gamefile.news/p/bungie-a...estiny-2-trial

Are the community willing to sacrifice ACT or FFLogs, or mods and plugins in general if that's the case? They may not be cheats, but falls into not authorized third party software, not allowed by the ToS. Imagine if SE announces legal actions against bot software and RMT and also includes any other third party tools. Or it is the community hypocrite enough to say "ACT, mods and plugins no, please, only RTM and bots"? Because i think would be more like "I will tolerate RMT if they let me keep ACT".

Never using any of those programs in the first place is key. I always advocated towards anti-cheats and anything that prevents making almost every achievement in the game worthless. So YES, get rid of this stuff!
