I also would hate it on white mage. And I don't agree with everybody saying it looks white magey, I think it's way too plain even for white mage.I agree Seraphism is ugly as sin. I'm glad you highlight that even disregarding the clash with Scholar's job fantasy, it also just independently looks bad. Like even if White Mage or some brand new class had this ability, I'd still think it was ugly.
Big miss from the dev team and I hate what Yoshida said in that interview.

I understand how they got to Seraphism but it still pretty weird and out there and really forced. Not sure how you start with a druid and a marine and end up with an angel and another angel, but oh well..
At least the holy/religious theme fits WHM from FF games past, even if the original incarnation was all about communing with forest spirits and using elemental spells.
SCH, on the other hand, has no such connection and, frankly, looks ridiculous in a gown. I mean the graduation cap was memed to death, but at least it w as s unique and thematic.
Not only are toolkits homogenised, but the class fantasies too.
1. We start with ARR, with SCHs getting their Faeries, with Faerie being a healing summon from FF Tactics (with maybe some Sylph and Pixie thrown in there)
2. In HW, when they gave all the jobs their own LB3, they gave SCH Angel Feathers, which allows the SCH to summon both their faeries and turns them into Seraphs (with Seraph being another healing summon, this time from VI, with Angel Feathers being their signature move)
3. Jump to ShB, where they reworked all the healers to remove most of their DPS kits so they would "focus more on healing" (lol) and they needed to give SCH a flashy, level 80 healing-based capstone skill, so they give them the ability to summon one Seraph
4. Cut to DT, where now SCHs can now absorb the power of Seraph via Seraphism
So Sch has ACN's original academia + magical geometry theming plus its own military/marine tactician, plague doctor, fairy-based spiritualist/mystic, Goetia/grimoire-based sorcerers, orate/mediator, angle-based conjurers, and past FF summoners' healing summons for themes.
It's a lot. (ಠ_ರೃ)
I think the worst part is if we were gonna get a healing summon, summoner got the cooler version. Seraph is a poor man's Selene we should have gotten phoenix if we had to get a Demi-Summon damn it!
Also I would go back in time and mind control the Devs to turn angel feathers into phoenix down instead. If we are gonna lose fairies I'd much prefer to be a flaming bird then a Korean mmo angel.
But They won't unlock Glam gear restrictions because Black Mage in plate makes no sense and would confuse what class someone belongs to. But a Scholar just turning into a White Mage is fine.
I haven't played Scholar in a long time, but I stand in support with all Scholars in this. With the Job Questline plot, I can see the transformation idea being drawn from it, but turning into an angel is very much an odd choice from the dev team.
Meanwhile in dungeons
broil broil broil broil broil broil whispering dawn broil broil broil broil
at this point im pretty sure square enix just doesnt care. the decisions theyve decided to make in the past 4 years have just been so awful destroying any semblance of identity
I dont mind the Trasformation as i am into Angelic Stuff i agree that its weird (especialy with them pushing White Mage into the Light instead of DD14 speficic Nature direction) to go to deep into Seraph instead of dabbling into other Support/Healing Summons.I understand how they got to Seraphism but it still pretty weird and out there and really forced.

Something like Unicorn, Kirin or considering Summoner doesnt really use it anymore Carnuncle, maybe in moonstone version.
I like what the skill does, but a fan of the whole angel image. Why not have us transform into Titania or a new fairy?
I meant to say NOT a fan of the angel wings. I cant edit the first post. Odd
