you're saying things you haven't yet experienced or beaten (AV/CC 17 min runs, DH 15min runs, relic faction leves, garuda) require no skill. alright, then. let's revisit this thread when you've got the experience to back up the claim.

but in the meantime, i don't understand the sense of entitlement so many players have about this. getting relic takes work. it takes DoH/DoL classes or a lot of farming, which equals work. it takes a fair sum of gil (even though i'm pretty poor and have never had more than 30m on me at any given time, yet i'm managing alright), which equals work. it takes grinding unfinished weapon spiritbond for hours, which equals work. and it requires completing several challenging steps to boot, which equals more work.

if you don't want to put in the work, or can't- fine. then relic isn't for you. but simply by virtue of it existing in the game, that doesn't mean you should automatically be entitled to it. relic was put here for the hardcores to put in a ton of work and get fast, and for everyone else to work toward as a long-term goal.

but whether hardcore or casual, expecting to get it overnight with just a few hours of time invested is downright silly. the game has items people can easily obtain with that amount of effort. and now it also has items people have to put exponentially more effort into in order to obtain.

if you still want relic, level your DoH and DoL or put in a lot of time farming. network. find people who can convert your mats into the weapons you'll need to meld. watch the auction house. make a concerted effort to build up your pool of gil. take steps toward it and eventually you'll have it.

but just because some players have already put in a large portion of the necessary work before relic was implemented, that doesn't mean the game should magically quantum leap you up to speed with them when you didn't. this system is mostly fair and rewards dedication, perseverance, a bit of luck, and skill.

i don't necessarily like the way they're using the materia system for this, as it's very imbalanced at the moment (and i'm completely certain RMT are making a killing off of honest players right now)- but relic aren't meant to be handouts. these aren't welfare weapons.

put in the time and you'll get one, just like anyone else. period.

I said you dont need a single Gil. IF you want to pay go ahead, noone will hold you.. but who is forcing you?

Everything costs gil... if you are to lazy to farm, lazy to level DoH/DoL etc etc. But it doesnt mean that you are forced to pay money, since you can make it to the Relic without spending a single Gil, if you get your Items/ingredients by yourself, Spirtibond and Materia/Meld your Items, while you farm the Currency, join Groups for AV/Ifrit etc etc etc.

By the way.. you can get Items in Hamlet and Instances which you can actually sell. So basically you could make Money with getting a Relic.

The only people which are favoured by the current System, are people which put effort into it.

That is game content, too. Be part of the community. Maybe you need DoL, but for crafting you can ask a crafter

OP there are some things you can farm that only require DoW/DoM that sell quite well. Boar hides, and button mushrooms just to name a couple.

I played FFXI for 8 years. I never got a single relic, yet I enjoyed the game plenty.

You don't NEED a relic to enjoy this game, unless you're OCD about stuff like that, in which case you probably don't enjoy anything about pretty much everything.

I'd take extreme versions of the instanced raids over speed runs personally.

Where are you getting this "If you don't have the DoL/DoH, you have to buy your melded weapon" thing from.

The community isn't as horrid as you seem to think. I've had at least three people offer to make me Mailbreakers for free. So what if I have to come up with the materia on my own? Spiritbonding isn't exactly difficult.

But before I start i would simply like to ask why were the relics not introduced through the people you Obtained your job crystal from? so many things could have sprouted from this, but anyways lets begin!!

The current relics system favors Rich players or DoH/DoL players.

I understand that people who craft and mine/harvest there items may not have a problem with this, but some players will never touch DoH/DoL. Thus they have 2 rely on spiritbonding and spamming leves. Spiritbonding is random and sometimes not a reliable means to make the large quantity of gil required for the double melding stage of relics. As for leves they run out fairly quickly when u spam them constantly. this leaves those players in a bind from ever achieving a relic weapon.

    Here are some suggestions.....

I know that you may not even consider this but... Instead of having things based on gil and luck you could possibly instead introduce a string of maybe 15-30 very difficult quest were-in upon completing each quest you get closer to your goal of a relic. In the predecessor FFXI at least with every dynamis you completed you were a bit closer to your weapon. were as in the current state of the relic system now its either you are or your not.

    Examples...

    STAGE 1
    1. Introduce New level 70 Notorious Monsters Must be defeated 15 times

    2. Kill 15000 Enemies

    3. Good King Moogle (Extreme)

    STAGE 2.

    1. Acquire Your Unfinished weapon.

    2. (instanced) Kill Stronghold Notorious Monster (hard).

    3. SpiritBond your Unfinished weapon.

    4. Kill 5000 Enemies.

    5. Ifrit Extreme.

    STAGE 3.

Final. For every specific Job They Must defeat the person who gave them the job crystal or A monster Named or such throughout the questline

Ex. Dragoon Must defeat The Wyrm Nidhogg. Monk Must defeat Erik or reincarnated King of Ruin. Black Mage Must defeat Ququruka.. so on and so forth.

PLEASE consider this at least it is only an idea i"m sure that you could mold it into something exceptional. Thank you for your time .
OR they can just reuse content, add 1 hard fight... and focus on 2.0.

    Which is what they did.

You have to touch Hamlet Defense way too much for my tastes.

To obtain a relic, you pretty much have to beat the current FFXIV. Sounds good to me.
Beat it. Beat it some more. Kick the beaten corpse. Then shake it until your last Hamlet seals fall out. Or buy the Hamlet and the Captain will slip you some seals under the table. I don't care for either method.

Rest of the quest seems fine to me, although the materia required for the weapons is hardly balanced.
