    /r/ffxivdiscussion: What are your hopes for PvP in Dawntrail?

    This is a good discussion about the future expectations of FFXIV PVP and what players want to see changed or added to improve the PVP experience.

    Original Post: "I know it's kind of an overlooked aspect of FFXIV but there are still some people that dabble in it. Overall I think it's in an okay spot but there definitely needs to be some kind of adjustments for Frontlines to make it an enjoyable experience for those not just there for the daily tomestones.

    Having spent this last week getting obliterated in Rival Wings by the enemy team having more DRKs, I'm kinda hoping they add a target cap to AoE abilities.

    Also hoping the big hammer Pictomancer had in the action trailer is used as a PvP ability. Big bonk."

    "They should probably kill the drk pull in and replace it with a more boring CC like bind or stun. But that bothers me less than how god damn boring new shatter is. Old shatter was ok. It had it's problems, but it was at least fun enough that I would queue for it when it was in the roulette, which I could not say for secure.     "Roulettes for Rival Wings and Crystalline Conflict so there is more incentive to play. I just got into PvP a few days ago and apart from Rival Wings being good for the moogle event atm I don't really see a reason to play anything but Frontlines when it comes to rewards and leveling your season rank.
    For every mode I would definitely want more incentive to play the objective. As a new player it's kind of weird to lose matches because I'm sticking to whatever other players try to communicate etc just because a bunch of players can't be assed to do anything but running around aimlessly and try to hunt for kills. We lost Frontlines by such a large amount of points because no matter how much Data we gathered because they were constantly dying. I get many people just do frontline roulette as a daily and don't bother with it but still. It's kind of annoying when you're trying to play as intended but it's useless because most players won't.
    I also think the game does a terrible job of communicating how to actually play the modes. CC is mostly fine because it's rather simple in concept. Frontline is a chaotic mess half the time and for Rival Wings I had to watch YouTube guides because as someone who never interacted with stuff like League of Legends I didn't have a clue on what to do."

    My personal hopes are: further balancing of PVP abilities, new armor sets and weapons as rewards, making Rival Wings relevant again by adding it to the daily roulette, adding CC as a daily roulette, and more official PVP tournaments. Not many people play Rival Wings but I think it's one of the more entertaining and engaging PVP modes. Overall, PVP in general is pretty fun in FFXIV, and I look forward to SE improving it and drawing more players into both casual and competitive modes.

    Jobs get different properties on moves in Frontline. Some abilities are too weak outside of Crystalline Conflict.

    I actually think there should be more mass CC like Dark Knight pull, but reduce the damage AOE bursts does. This means it's more about chaining multiple CC's together rather than timing a single burst, which increases the skill ceiling. Consequently, there needs to be more anti AOE burst abilities. Combos are funner in large scale PvP than just picking Ninja or Machinist and trying to pick solo kills (both can co-exist).

    Seal Rock removed and reworked to fix its map imbalances.

    Series rewards for Frontlines based on placement (exp reward can stay the same). Give more of an incentive to not be last place.

    Better UI elements so people can see how the score is changing based on their actions. Let new players know that dying constantly is losing their team lots of points by showing them the point loss after each death.

    Need a way to deal with griefers who run into enemies base and just feed deaths all game. These people would honestly be better for their team if they just afk'd in spawn.

    Less grind. That's my hope. Having to do quite a few CC matches to reach Series level 25 is just painful.

    - Remove BH from FL ( adjust ability potency to compensate)
    - Add new PvP maps and games.
    - More [Rewards] and uses for [Wolf Marks] and [Trophy Crystals]
    - Let us buy past PvP Series rewards (armor/mount/minion..ect) with [Trophy Crystals]

    Long term goals for PvP and actual value to play Ranked CC over Casual.

    We have gone through this several times with other PvP regulars and the overall rewards are just plain lackluster. Augmented Hellhound Weapons were move to right direction, but still bit questionable in the ways of aquicition.

    Stuff that we could have:
    -Hunt currency items for PvP currencies, to give more overall value to them. Maybe even unique color or two (could be backported to Hunt or other content rewards too, maybe to breathe life to other side content like Mahjong?)
    -Recolor of Series Armor, Minion and Mount for different Rankings (Gold/Plat gets one, Diamond/Crystal gets one and Top 100 gets one for example).
    -Upgradeable full armor set in theme of Hellhound weapons, each upgraded piece makes the whole set gain stronger and stronger effects until it has been all augmented. Potentially make the currency aquirable by all ranks instead of only Diamond+ but scale it heavily so high ranks are still desireable, yet not keep it completely out of reach for the rest as long as they participate in Ranked over multiple Seasons.
    -Additional effects to Minions and Mounts? Similar to Previous Augmentations.
    -More Titles, they cost next to nothing to make, just have something like Crystalline Legend at top end for reaching Top 100 multiple times.
    -PvP Relic? Objectives that span all PvP modes to build alternative path Weapon for your PvE experience.

    Hell, just increasing the participation and win rewards for Ranked CC to double or triple over Casual would help a lot.
