Echoes of Vana'diel Expectations? Hopes?

As an old FFXI player and fan of the concept of alliance raids (even if the past 2 have been a bit disappointing), I'm trying to get my hopes up for the Echoes of Vana'diel raid in Dawntrail.

I was wondering if there were any other old FFXI players who were hoping for very specific things to show up in the raid whether it's characters, enemies, armor sets, music, or story beats. We already know the Shadow Lord is going to be involved, but what else do you want to show up?

And whether or not you have ever played FFXI, how do you feel about it showing up as a raid?


Personally my expectation is that the Shadow Lord will be the last boss of the second raid and the third will end up being Eald'narche and the other brother. Or we'll do Shadow Lord the first raid, Eald'narche the second, and Promathia in the third to give players the whole original storyline. Xarcabard/Castle Zvahl is a given but it would be nice to see Tavnazia and actually go through the city streets.

There's no way Prische and Shantotto don't make an appearance since they're the faces of the game but I hope lesser known but equally important characters like Aldo, Emeline, Verena, Fickblix, Lion, and Cornelia show up at least. I'm less hopeful but would be a nice surprise if we get Nanaa Mihgo and the Star Onion Brigade.

I also hope that we get Memoro de la Stono - Distant worlds, Recollection, Sometime, Somewhere, Hopelessness, Anxiety, Sorrow, Despair, and Repression as classic Nobou tracks.

As for armor sets, it would be neat if we got classics like the brigandine with the orange and white checker pattern, the Eisen set, the jujitsu gi, O-kotes, and that one mage set with the paint/tattoos whose name escapes me.


But the thing that would complete my experience is if we get the emote of standing with arm outstretched and squinting at Tavnazia between our fingers like Aldo does in the opening cinematic.


EDIT: Other things I forgot about but what like to see: Yagudo, Quadav, and Orcs finally being ported into FFXIV. Roegadyn with tails and 4 fingers. RSE (race-specific armor) from FFXI.

And it would be neat if Lodestone did Vana'diel Tribune-style posts for each raid to promote the series like we had on the original PlayOnline site every month.

I'm hoping they bring lady Lilith and Lilisette gear. And hoping they bring music directly from ff11 and not do any Soken style remixes since I like the style of ff11 music as it is. There is a lot of zones/characters/music I would love for them to bring in the raids but I love so many characters zones and music from ff11 that it be hard to choose what I would want them to bring in the raids.

my only expectation is that above all else, I do not want these raids to be as boring as Myths of the Realm, which should be an incredibly low bar.

with that being said, besides that, I think it would be incredibly hilarious to see Maat show up as a boss and be inexplicably Thunder God Cid-level challenging.

I'ma going to guess that the first 3 parts of the game will be the raid series, as well.
I'm going to hope that the raid's lore will be worked into FFXIV's lore, more like Ivalice was, and less like the Nier raids, where it was like a scoop of grade school cafeteria Nier mashed potatoes being plopped on the tray that is FFXIV. I hope it's actually a bit spicier (only complaint about MotR was that it was roll face on keyboard easy) Gimmie TG Cid and Ozma difficulty, please. People will have played their job for 100 levels, asking for a little bit of competency would be nice.
It would be neat if you completed The Maiden's Rhapsody event, it would be referenced. Doesn't have to be a big thing, but it'd be cool.
Lots of orchestrion scrolls. Don't mind if there are remixes. If I want to listen to the original music, there's YouTube (plus I own the CD's of the first 3 parts OST)

Unfortunately it's already been established that Vana'diel is an entirelly seperate world and dimension to Hydaelyn and it's Shards, and on top of that we've already had FFXI-esque/inspired content, places, enemies added as well (Eureka, Alzadaal's Legacy), so it can really go both ways.

But, I'm liable to think it's going to be a FFXIV-specific zone with some FFXI themed areas and enemies like how Eden is inspired by FFVIII but not literally FFVIII's world plopped into FFXIV (and not as blatant like how the Ivalice raids were).

But as they say, we'll find out soon.

As someone who absolutely loves DRK, I really want to see Zeid again, even if he's just a background character.

I miss alot of the leveling area music but they will probably wont give us them. Probably be songs from later areas and battles.

As for gear? The iconic stuff that was worn alot from 10+ years ago! As a whm here also id love for them to give light staff and noble’s tunic (or blessed bliaut since the color scheme is nicer) as a fun nod to ffxi of the past

Things I want.

- More FFXI gear sets. I've always been surprised how ew gear sets have been ported over to FFXIV. Alzadaal's Legacy not having FFXI gear drops was kind of a let down.
- Have Naja show up. I would also love for this raid series to tie into the DT relic line so Naja and Rowena can team up.
- Playonline - Dolphin needs to be a music roll.

I also had the idea of Naja showing up in tural and working with Rowena it be funny since there pretty similar personality wise and tural reminds me of aht urghan.
