Gunbreaker Equipement Lore

I am curious and cannot find any info on the matter. The device or monocle that is part of the gunbreaker kit I believe is a device of sorts and not just an eyepatch. like 2B's blindfold. I am trying to find out what is the official lore regarding the eyepiece. What is it's function? Does it track aether? Is it a HUD giving data? Is it just a targeting reticle? It is a random thought that has been bugging me.

From Lorebook 3, while this describes the blindfold of the Allegiance set and not the monocle of the ShB set, you can probably safely assume that it serves a similar function:

"The mirrolens on this blinder is capable of aetherial detection, allowing the gunbreaker to detect hidden foes by adjusting its dial to focus on the signature of living creatures. If it is dismissed by said foes as a hastily cobbled metal eyepatch, all the better."
