Given that it's an important lore location that we have to go to fairly often (SMN job quests, GNB job quests, FFXVI event, Achievement Points vendor, etc.) it seems weird that there's not an Aetheryte there.

The irony is I don't want to go to most of these other aethernets but I usually want to go to Apkallu Falls and it's the one place without one. Sometimes it's not just for the achievement person but for seasonal events and quests. It's always Apkallu Falls and it makes me run there.
It's been said that, in RL, time exists so that everything doesn't happen all at once, and distance exists so that everything doesn't happen in the same place.
But in video games, distance exists partly to make the game seem real (imagine if everything happened in the same place, so you never had to move -- not the game I want FFXIV to be), and partly to keep you from getting things done quickly, so that you are online longer.
Game designers have to balance that last against the annoyance that it creates. To paraphrase Einstein, game tasks may be intended to take as long as tolerable to accomplish, but no longer.
Gridania's aethernet layout in general is weird compared to the other two cities. It's like it was intentionally made to be less convenient.
I would say not just the falls but a lot of places in the game need aetheryte Off the top of My head is the hinterlands. Why do we have to go to Idyllshire If we just want to go straight to the hinterlands
It kinda was. Lorewise, Gridania is the least technologically advanced of the three starting cities, so they have fewer aetherytes. Ul'dah has the most due to being the wealthiest of the three.
Not really and just have a walk and there is litterally mini aetherytes all over the place as well.
If anything it is good they do not place the big aetherytes directly on big lore spots, alone due to people would or could end going there and just linger around afk.
It's one of the most critical historical locations in Gridania and I visit there more than anywhere else in Gridania, it'd be great.
I've also wondered why there aren't achievement npcs in other cities with the same function as the apkallu falls guy. Why only Gridania?
We also need an aethernet point for the Armorers and Blacksmiths' Guild in Limsa.
