Making good use of underused buttons.

I always thought Hyosho was very clever it used Kasatsu to enable the usage of a very underused button combination of Hyoton. I think we should look at using some very underused buttons for our upgraded skills button presses.

I think the throwing gcds are a great choice. Making enhanced version of a flashy looking piercing talon or Tomahawk would be great use of an otherwise pretty neglected button once a minute or maybe once every two minutes.

Eh, if buttons are being neglected then I think we should have more mechanical reasons to press them rather than having to artificially increase their useage by cramming even more into a burst phase to meet some kind of button-press-quota.

Situational skills can be fun if we're allowed to be placed in situations that aren't "just do your rotation at it".
Like for the underused ranged abilities, you can have an object tethered to a person that constantly approaches them. If the tether gets too short, they start taking increasing damage based on proximity. It takes no damage, but gets knocked back on hit from the person it has tethered. It has to be "kicked" into a "goal" to be dispelled. Boom, a reason for a melee character to use their little ranged plink button

This is a subjective issue, so there's not really a right or wrong answer here. That said, I'm going to come at this from a different angle and advocate for something different.

Personally, my enjoyment of the game doesn't come from how many different buttons I'm pressing; rather, my enjoyment comes from needing to strategize, needing to adjust my plans on the fly, taking risks, and needing to react to ever-evolving circumstances. Generally speaking, I think there's a lack of those kinds of enjoyable situations in FF14 combat, which is why players have had to settle for a status quo where the majority of our buttons are literally there just to give us a game of Solitaire to keep us occupied between fight mechanics.

I don't want to move closer to a game where every button is used at least once every 2 minutes. I would greatly prefer that the game focus less on predictable rotations (to be clear, not getting rid of it entirely) and more on combat where players are rewarded for using abilities in ways that are reactive and risky.

The obsession with having every single button be part of the regular rotation, with no true utility or situational usefulness, hasn't really done this game any favors.

On the other hand, having a button you'll press in a single type of content isn't doing any favor either.
Looking at all the cooldowns like Shoha & Shoha II, then people asking for AoE spender.
