They mentioned it in the LL because people were asking about it and they even made it clear in the LL that the dates given weren't concrete guaranteed dates.

The changes look pretty good, it's unbelievable how many things could be fixed with lighting

They don't mention changing the lipshapes, only the rendering. I was hoping they would revert my vieras lips. In the new benchmark they look like they got lipinjections. Maybe the gloss will fix some of it. But yes, every single picture looks so much better.

Having the proper shading and glossiness on the lips does a lot to improve the look of the characters. On the example images of the female midlander, especially, I actually think the lips look smaller (in a good way) than in the current benchmark.
