This is the catch 22 I am in with Sony, where I don't remember my PSN account, and SE won't tell me. Sony has been more than reasonable in this issue, but unfortunately, I can't remember the name. If I could only get the name I'd be done, but god forbid SquareEnix, divulge that information to the account owner who is, in fact, me, myself, and I.
"You haven't proven that it is safe, you've (only) proved that you can't figure out how it's dangerous."
That is a BIG RED FLAG for properly trained CS. They can't assume You are who You say You are. Social Engineering is a real problem for CS to deal with. Something as innocuous as an account name may not seem bad... from one call to CS. Then there is another call to a different CS agent. I have ********** account name, but I can't remember my password, and the e-mail address is no longer in use. Now a legitimate account is stolen, and is in Limsa spamming gold sellers. Something similar is why I no longer have my old account. This is the catch 22 I am in with Sony, where I don't remember my PSN account, and SE won't tell me.
