Resolution presets are wrong in display settings.

    Hi,

I am at my wits end with this issue. In brief, I've happily been playing FFXIV on my M2 Pro Mac mini for the better part of a year. My primary monitor is an LG C3 4K OLED, and I have an iPad Air in sidecar. I have been playing in fullscreen at a resolution that provides me good performance. However, now the FFXIV client is only providing resolution presets that are compatible with my iPad irrespective of whether it is connected or not.

    I have tried the following:
    • Reinstalling FFXIV
    • Resetting my settings to default
    • Backing up my settings from the server
    • Hand editing ffxiv.cfg

Nothing works, except when I had edit ffxiv.cfg to set FullScreenWidth and FullScreenHeight to my desired resolution. However, it will only persist until I close the game down, at which point it automatically reverts those two values 1280x1024. I should add that FFXIV is the only game that is not detecting my monitor properly.

It is incredibly frustrating to have to hand edit a text file just for the game to recognise my monitor correctly.

Any help you are able to provide would be greatly appreciated.

    Greetings Adventurer!

We would like to apologize for the issues you are experiencing. We would suggest that you check the device settings for the display output as the iPad may be conflicting with the game setting. This can be due to the different display output options. Additionally, we would suggest that you contact Apple's support team as they may be able to provide you with some steps that may fix this issue.

Thank you for visiting the FINAL FANTASY XIV Technical Support Forums!

I have disabled the sidecar display and ensured that the C3 is set as my primary display in Displays in MacOS system settings.

No other application is presenting this issue, so it is on the XIV side of things.

Good morning! Thank you for posting in the Final Fantasy XIV Technical Support Forums.

    Please try the following:
    - We recommend double checking the resolution setting of your system itself as it could affect the in-game resolution.
    - Rather than altering the .cfg files, try adjusting the in-game settings via the 'System Configuration' instead. If the changes do not save, please try doing so while running FINAL FANTASY XIV as an administrator.
    - Update and reinstall the drivers for your graphics card and sound drivers (if applicable).
    - Please try switching between fullscreen mode and borderless windowed mode to see if the issue persists.
    - Disable Full Screen Optimizations. To disable this, please find the "ffxiv_dx11.exe" and right click it and select properties. Then under the compatibility tab there will be a check box labeled "Disable Full Screen Optimizations". Check it and click apply.

Thank you once again for visiting the Final Fantasy XIV Technical Support Forums!

I would also suggest if editting the CFG file works you could the edits as usual, but then set the file to Read Only. This should prevent the game from defaulting or changing anything.
