Just let tomestone gear to be sold at MB. Or make some NPC sell Poetics for Gil.
I'm horrible at this game. I've been playing since 1.x beta and I don't even have a fraction of that. How are people making gil these days? Is it still that vague airship / submarine method? Are people still making endgame armor and selling it? What am I doing wrong??? Tell me!!!
We're not really on the same page here i think.
Other MMO's have an economy because the items matter and make a difference.
In osrs, weapons will cost millions because they fill a niche in high end, or midcore content.
In WoW, consumables are harder to come by and equipment pieces can make a big difference.
In 14, the best sort of upgrade you can buy is a crafted weapon at the start of a tier. And the performance upgrade you actually get from it is marginal, even when optimised.
There's hundreds of max stack consumables on the market board for a low price. The game is meant to be a quick in and out compared to other MMO's.
The build up and commitment required to get into, and complete content is near zero.
You actively have to go out of your way to not do braindead content. And the rewards you get from it are nearly entirely worthless.
Because the drops only matter in the content you get it from. And unlike other MMO's, you also don't really have a whole lot of reasons to go back to the content anyways.
I'd sooner use the Paissa skin for the rest of my time in 14 than buy this, even as a joke.after reading so many Richie Rich comments, here's my idea:
the exteriors (walls, windwods, door, landmines, Signs) of Scrooge McDuck's money bin.
- Only Mansions
- NOT tradeable, not refundable
- only one per ward
- Price: to decide (let's say 2billions gils, or 4 tokens sold for 500M each)
- Beagle Boys not included

Getting omni-crafter to max level is trivial so everybody can be self-sufficient and then the only daily expenses are teleport costs but since you need tome mats/tomes themselves you get enough gil to stay positive just by doing roulettes. In 14, the best sort of upgrade you can buy is a crafted weapon at the start of a tier. Realistically there are only two things gil is needed for in this case which are completely optional - treasure map crafts, extreme weapon mats and tradeable stuff from some content such as emotes from Eureka.
All of it is just glamour/vanity, so if you have already all you need you don't need to spend gil on anything at all for just playing.
Kinda ontopic, kinda offtopic.
But New World had an aggressive monetary policy in it. In fact it was so bad, that the game got locked into a deflationary spiral where players eventually were driven to the point of desperation and had to regress back to bartering commodities with other commodities to survive. Like how hunters of past traded with squirrel skins. The economy of the game straight up died.
I mean to say, it could be worse!

- Be in the game on Hour 1, Day 1 of new patches/expansions that have new gear/furniture and sell them at overcharged prices. Don't expect to do much content that day. A friend of a friend makes her money through furniture and pulled in close to 1B when Empyreum opened. She was selling on multiple servers though so keep that in mind.
- Before specific patches related to gear for savage, try to advertise on the PF that you're taking bulk pre-orders or join up with someone else doing it. Just expect to also not do much content until all orders are completed.
Roleplay:
- Sell yourself at a brothel
- Gamble for it
(Please keep in mind you'll be making pennies compared to other methods by relying just on RP but it is the most "fun" way of making money.)
Battle:
- Hard to get items that require heavy grinds tend to sell well, such as the Fallen Angel's Wings that require gemstone vouchers and sells for 50m+.
Otherwise:
- Market flip, YouTube how to do it properly but you'll ultimately still need to follow trends on your own server. This is my preferred method and I've pulled in tens of millions in a week or so just by taking an hour a day to set up retainers.

Gather up a map every day and sell it on the MB. Gazelleskin will always sell for decent gil, currently Boarskin are a decent seller due to the moogle eventI'm horrible at this game. About a week into the expansion, the new 8-person maps will be selling for under 10k gil each, because wonderous tails will give them as rewards and there's no portals for them yet. Two weeks into the expansion they'll add portals to them, and the price will shoot up to 100k+ gil each, easy chance to flip for gil
