Gil already does this. I've bought all tradeable mounts, minions, bardings, hairstyles, music and emotes I couldn't be bothered to farm. Also many glamours. The market board is a great way to get luxury items and everyone can trust that they can buy those items with gil.

Then your argument isn't that gil doesn't have value, it's that you want to make everyone poorer so that they are stuck in a treadmill of having to play the game to get gil which they need in order to enjoy other aspects of the game.

Making everyone work harder for basic necessities or luxury goods not only sucks the life out of people, but also induces crime in real life. All this would do is make people resort to RMT to get the enjoyment this game should be providing with ease since that's the entire point of games.
