    Solar bahamut speculation

Is this just a spoiler-free demi hydaelyn?

    • Solar bahamut's wings are made of swords, as are the moon seals
    • the summoning thingy has a big column of light, similar to the sundering emote sorry don't know name
    • the attack puts that hexagram usually associated with the crystals of light and the zodiark moon seal (cutscene lv83, gateway of the gods)
    • the colour scheme is pretty pale/blue (the purple of the technofence didn't help clarity here)
    • people keep calling it twink bahamut, so it's apparently notably less masculine looking than the standard
    • this speculation's looking a bit weak if I don't put another bullet point in
    • Not counting 1.0, in order, the primals encountered are bahamut, phoenix, hydaelyn cutscenet, ifrit, titan, garuda. Of these 6, only hydaelyn is not utilised in the summoner rotation.

This is the only new skill I want to know how we came about being able to use it. Since we would have needed to been touched by its aether at some point in order to summon it. The hexagram to me and I guess a few others look the same as a no crystals blessing of light. I hadn't thought that it could be a spoiler free Hydelean. I feel the twink comment comes from how skinny it is body wise. Since the sword wings don't seem to really be attached to the body. Some are saying it reminds them of XV's Bahamut due to the swords as that is what it attacked with. While the head portion of the gage reminds me of XVI's bahamut. Right now I'm hoping that this thing has a triple triad card.

All we know about Solar Bahamut from the PLL (timestamped at 3:32:08):
"There were rumblings about how the current Bahamut looks something along the lines of what the Allagan Empire might have described Bahamut as, and perhaps this might not be its true form so that was kinda the thinking behind the thinking of bringing another Bahamut with a different appearance."

Of course this doesn't explain why the sword wings (which were definitely not a thing for the original Bahamut, his body type was most definitely more like the other great wyrms) and the Hydaelyn allusions.

I do think the idea of it being a "spoiler free" demi-Hydaelyn has merit. The spell effect for Solar Bahamut's "Flare" is very similar to Exodus, and when the swords first appear around the target with the "blessing of Light" pattern a shield runs up the length of the attack and that looks like the shield Hydaelyn uses to save the WoL from Ultima during Operation Archon.

It's definitely a Umbral counterpart to the Astral Lunar Bahamut, at least.

I'm liable to put it down to something like the Primal-knock-offs the WoL summons during the Eden raids - poor imitations often confused with other monsters/enemies due to.... rather sloppy memory on the WoL's part, leading to wildly differeing (and bizzare!) designs from what they should be (remember Eden-Leviathan and his two heads, or Eden-Titan in his go-kart? And to say nothing of Eden-Ramuh having some kind of transporter incident involving Ixion and ending up a weird centaur-thing!).

Solar Bahamut therefore might be something similar, the WoL's idea of what Bahamut should be based on Tiamat's fond memories of her brother mixed with the WoL's own memories of Hydaelyn and Venat's ideals that led to her summoning.

Or I'm just rambling half-baked ideas, so don't mind me!

Something that I've always found interesting about Bahamut-Bahamut's design is that its head, as we see and know it, isn't actually what Bahamut looked like; going back to that old art of all the First Brood dragons, you can see that his horns are different, because Allag actually ripped his horns off and replaced them with Allagan nodules. (If you look at SMN's Bahamut UI, the Allagan bits are the gold parts.) So the notion of a 'true Bahamut' is actually pretty interesting.

...and this isn't the guy, because he's got no horns! He almost looks like if someone heard the notion that the Bahamut we know wasn't accurate, and then tried to design an 'accurate Bahamut' without doing even the barest possible research.

Indeed, I do not know why they bring the topic in the LL as "the bahamut we know is how it must have been perceived by the allagan" like it was a myth or a legend brought forth to life from their imagination although we were always told the bahamut we know was created by the allagan tweaking the bahamut from this famous First Brood since it looks like his brothers and sisters. Like Nidhogg, Vrtra, Hraesvelgr and cie have all a lookalike appearance, and is Bahamut from the art from HW. I'm at lost with this or am I mistaken something there ?

I'm very curious as to why and how we can now summon a new Bahamut too, without being exposed to a source of aether, is the summoner now being able to muster this aether himself and bring forth a primal from his imagination too ?

Discount Hydaelyn. Would rather summon Hydaelyn.

    Sword Wings represent the Convocation.

You see Hydaelyn sigils in the attacks and the attacks seem to be miniature "Echoes" and a miniature "Exodus" with Exodus mirroring the Zodiark Sword Seal on the Moon.

White/Blue theme falls in line with Hydaelyn.

Design overall looks inspired from Stranger of Paradise Bahamut.

At least now we can pretty safely assume that the core of Solar is Hydaelyn, likely the remnants of the aether she gave us to use in the Mothercrystal.

Solar Bahamut does get Exodus and umbral themed Light attacks, so.
