Square enix: back that truck up (Dawntrail Variant Dungeon)

I looked at the list of things we're getting in dawntrail and found out we're getting more variant dungeons...and I'm like "yet more solo content"

1. Make DT's variant dungeons require other players
2. Make previous expansion's variant dungeons optionally soloable

Let them know before it's too late.

I like going solo with my gnb for variant dungeons. I did em all thanks to Meoni's path guides then took my friends to complete theirs and i cant wait for a new one coming lol

I have to agree, Variants shouldn't be solo-able. I actually like the concept of variant/criterion but think that dungeons that have multiple branches and shape shift should be the default design for dungeons instead of a special category given it would make duty roulettes a bit more novel to run. In practice, you often end up soloing it because it's a hassle to find people to do them with and because you often end up soloing them there it becomes a hassle to find people to do them with. So it is a self fulfilling prophecy.

Obviously the reward issue is the biggest problem but lets face it. What are people doing playing instances on an MMO alone? Questing and overworld exploring should be for that, but battle content like this should be a social experience. If they want to provide a rich solo experience they should put to use the overworld and make good quests.

Most jobs aren't even designed to be fun solo. Imagine the excitement of playing white mage and spamming glare and nothing else while maybe casting a regen so you don't die. Wow.... Amazing solo combat experience.

I disagree that variants shouldn't be soloable.

One of the most fun things I could do in EW was solo the variant dungeons and do all the testing and theories alone to solve all the paths before any of the guides come out.

I don't fancy matching into random parties and having everyone argue over which path to do.

Variant solo is a lot of fun, leave it alone.

I have to disagree, I get a large amount of enjoyment going in solo, seeing no guides, reading the lore and figuring out the puzzles myself, when I tried it with other people even on day 1 people were spoiling solutions and when asked if they did that route they would say they were 'quoting it from a guide'

I guess I'm on the camp that I actually would want this to be less towards "solo" as I feel like making things constantly solo in a MMO is the reason why we feel so distanced at times, theirs a lot of content that you can do solo.

All I'd ask is for a lot more bonuses doing it in a group rather then solo play.

If you want to play with other people, play with other people. I don't see why it should be mandatory. If people want to play variant dungeons solo, let them. If you don't, either they will not play them at all, or will be resentful of having to group with other players and this will not result in good socialization anyway.
