That's a false narrative, all artists train of other artist, claiming AI is stealing because it learnt of others art implies everyone with an art degree needs to start paying royalties to alot of people. I too work in IT, I also have an art degree and went to uni for games design, the industry is about 90% tech skill with about 10% artistry. This is mainly due to the games industry's current obsession with realism, it's literally bleeding the industry dry of talent and money. It's why indie games are actually good because it's where alot of talented artists who dislike the trip A corps go and make interesting things. Imagine if you will a brilliant artist that can train their Open source AI in their Art style where they create these weird and wonderful colourful worlds like we used to see in the 90's, that AI can empower a single artist and good director into creating an entire massive game world. AI is not the enemy it's just a tool, VO has always been a fringe and dying industry, I do feel bad for the people that love doing it but the options are, limit millions of peoples creativity or for a handful of people who work as VO's, or allow progress to occur and the industry adjust to new tools. No, I don't touch anything related to art. I work in IT and I believe in responsible use of the technology. I guess you could say that I follow the Cid Garlond mentality. Freedom through Technology but to the benefit of mankind and not in a way that harms it. AI causes harm because these systems are trained on stolen works that the original artists are not compensated by something like licensing. I have zero problem if a company uses the technology and trains it with their own works. The minute they start scouring the internet for everyone else's or otherwise using other's original work in some manner, that's when I'm opposed.

There is a difference between a human artist being inspired by someone else's work and trying to match it but still having their own personal style or signature. It's never going to match exactly. AI can match exactly. Like I said, someone using the tools and seeding their own work is fine. That's not how we're seeing AI used in the creative fields, though. That's a false narrative, all artists train of other artist, claiming AI is stealing because it learnt of others art implies everyone with an art degree needs to start paying royalties to alot of people. If you want to hear how AI voice would work, just go look up those gazillion funny/traffic/animal.etc. compilations on youtube that were uploaded by non-English speaker using AI reading off a script. At best, they sounds like generic commercial announcers, but you listen to it for a while and you'll realize it's extremely robotic.
I also know there has been a gust of people trying to implement AIchat/voice into game mod like Lydia Skyrim and a lot of people act like it's the best thing from slice bread. However, it only feels that good because it's an improvement from basically almost ground zero standard, and two I think it's just the technical aspect (AI is the new buzzword) that kinda starstruck people. But looking at it objectively, Lydia skyrim sounds extremely un-natural and does not come anywhere close to any of the popular companion mod that use real VAs, even the semi-amateurish one.
And lastly, you NEVER want to give companies the idea you will settle for less. Business 101 is always to figure out how to provide the least amount of service the customers will accept while trying to charge them the maximum amount without driving them away. If you let them walk down the AI path, it wouldn't be about how to provide you a "better" product, rather once they realize you are "ok" with it, then THAT will be exactly what you will get from then on. This is the reason why you see that massive strike from Hollywood writers unions last years, and why so many different sectors also strikes with them in solitary.
Absolute braindead take that's been debunked time and time again. That's a false narrative, all artists train of other artist, claiming AI is stealing because it learnt of others art implies everyone with an art degree needs to start paying royalties to alot of people. An algorithm is not a human. A human doesn't learn by inputting files directly into their brain.
Generative "AI" IS the enemy, because corporations WILL use it to steal artists' work to replace those same artists. There are already thousands of artists that have lost their jobs to this foolishness.
Don't ignore that it relies on massive amounts of stolen work and personal data to even work.
Nobody whose efforts were consumed by the thing ever gave their consent, which makes my previous point even stronger.

AI doesn't rely on anything stolen. Where the data comes from doesn't matter to the process.

The Legends of the Titanmen lives on, a shining example of the power of compassion and the ability of people to make a difference in the world. A reminder that even in the darkest of times, there is always hope, as long as there are heroes like the Titanmen who dare to do good deeds in Eorzea.
