if anyone's voicing my character its Kenjiro Tsuda not some AI mish mash

i like silent protag, but i also use naturalreader all the time
guess while i wouldnt make bot speak for my character, i would love to be able to just make it read out loud when i am """too lazy""" to read
i like genshin mc sometimes speaking something, maybe design like that would work for ffxiv too
I would like it a lot. I have that mod you are referencing to in skyrim, and it made skyrim much more enjoyable for me, even though its not perfect and sounds a bit robotic at times. I love that mod to death.
I think it makes a game seem more real, in skyrim i used to skip the dialogue a bit bc i got tired of hearing npcs talk, but after installing the talking mod i found myself listening to the people talking a lot more because when my character actually replied the whole experience went to another level and became so much more enjoyable to me. I understand not everyone agrees, but thats what i feel.
I would actually start watching more cutscenes in the game if we talked![]()
While certainly is an ethical choice, I just can't see them hire VA to voice all of WoL's dialogue choice line in both economical and efficency sense,
the most realistical thing CBU3 could do is pay some VAs for their voice sample, use AI temper it, then distribute it across the playable race.
But then, SQEX might start getting greedy and cut the VA budget for FFXIV MSQ development.
Quite a can of worm out there if I say so
Reject AI - I'd rather a real person to voice my character, so I'm happy with how it is
Seriously screw AI
Yes, yes I would object.
Forced overdubs with AI sound lifeless and very uncanny. I've tried them before in other games.
So, no thanks.
I would reject AI voicing my character. My own imagination is sufficient, thank you very much.
I would reject AI voicing any character in a video game because "it's less expensive than a voice actor".
There's two issues here, AI and main character voice acting.
On AI:
I'm okay with AI being used in projects that allow solo/small groups to do things they couldn't possibly do without AI (animation help, voice acting for small projects that can't afford it, etc).
I'm not okay with AI being used by big companies to cut corners and pay humans less/not at all.
On main character voice acting:
I'm torn on this. I actually enjoyed having a voice in Fallout 4/Mass Effect/Guild Wars 2. It connected me to the world more, and I felt like I HAD a real voice. That said, I do not want a voice for my WoL. The years I've spent with Shara have been awesome, and I'm not sure any voice could do justice to who she is imo. The DRK questline is the very most I would allow, and while I loved it, I know others really didn't like it, as their WoL wasn't thinking those same thoughts and it felt like a violation.
Combine those two thoughts with my lack of faith in SE using AI in a way that wasn't lazy and cheap, and no, I don't want AI to be used to voice my player character in FFXIV.
It would be cool if they used it on the NPCs in realtime to pronounce your character name instead of it being glossed over in voiced sections.
