I just started playing Machinist. How is this still not a thing? It's been 8 years, 10 months and 25 days since HW release, and still no option to hide it.

Paladin gets The Emperor's New Shield, yet it doesn't remove any of their shield abilities.

I see posts and comments about having unique ones to match the guns. Personally, I think that's way out of the question, too much work. At the very most, I would say add one for each expansion. But, I don't care for this, I would hide them all.

Seriously, give an option to hide it PLEASE!

Feels like they should just have a command toggle like SMN does for their summons. We used to have one for the much maligned Gauss Barrel, so I don't see why MCH wouldn't have a similar command, would be nice to have, even if just client side. They could add the same thing to the AST sleeve too.

Honestly yeah, hiding the lunchbox would be a great idea. There are so many weapons I won't use on my Mechanist because the silver lunchbox clashes with my glam or even the gun itself.

I agree using the lore as an excuse when paladins can hide their shields is a big reach. They get really stubborn on some of the weirdest things.

It could be that the real excuse that they aren't admitting to is the workload to make the change. To enable the off-hand slot just for at least, in this case, one purely cosmetic item, "The Emperor's New Aetherotransformer", really wouldn't make much sense unless they added more glams. So, like the comment above, a slash command toggle would suffice and probably be really easy to implement. And I'll bet that 100% of the players would not turn it off, so they wouldn't be entirely forgotten. Also, couldn't we just imagine that with some glams that maybe it's hidden somewhere, that some satchel or bandoleer has replaced it?

It's "not a thing" because there would be nothing to do with the thing. Glamours need a base item to attach to, and there is no separate item for the aetherotransformer. It can't be applied to the gun or there would be no information about which gun you have glamoured.

If they were going to add more toggles to character appearance choices (which they don't or can't do in general), they would likely be spent on something more universal than a choice that only affects one or two classes.

So the only way might be to split the weapon to have a separate off-hand element, which might have implications for IL or inventory.

Yoshi P was asked if it could be hidden and his answer was "Those lunch boxes are filled with love. We can't remove them." Which did not really answer on why they don't want to or for some reason are unable to(despite there existing mods to hide it).

The housing backend code is lodged inside the Aetherotransformers please understand, it's the cell processor's fault.

Well I don't know if that's true or not, because it isn't shown to the player in the UI like a Paladin's shield is. But, say if it did already exist as a separate paired item to occupy the offhand slot that is not shown to the player, then why not add a toggle (/displaysidearm)?

For example, take the "Hide/display main and off hand weapons when sheathed." toggle (/displayarms): In theory, if the game objects have some parameter like "visible_sheathed=true/false", then why can't there be a "visible_drawn=true/false" parameter?

So, they add the toggle, and all the Paladins will say, "But I paid 100k MGP to hide my shield!" Well, if The Emporer's New Aetherotransformer did exist as the only item in the game which you could equip in your offhand slot as a MCH, I would certainly also pay 100k MGP. Just equip it, no need to glam, no need to split attributes or IL, no extra inventory.
