So, what do the JP players think?

Eh, I'm not even gonna bother looking through +4 years of content and threads. Someone posted either here or on reddit the JP community's thoughts on the state of healers and was told healers should only heal, then asked about tanks (and dps's) broken self/party sustain and was told it was a great thing cause they wouldn't have to "feel like a burden". It was around all the drama when tanks were clearing savage fights without healers and clearing ultimates with 0-1 healer.

Pretty sure West wants nerfs to self-sustain. We weren't asking for tank/dps mitigation buffs and second wind buffs that was shown in the Live Letter.

I can't speak Japanese myself and got this from a friend, so take it with a huge bag of salt but I've been told that while my social circles love to complain about garbage tanks not pressing their mitigation buttons, apparently the big topic in JP is healers not healing, so they want tanks to be able to keep themselves alive? Again, can't verify it.

So is that perhaps driven by the prevailing attitude in English speakers that you should try to heal as little as possible and let people's HP get as low as it safely can? Or do the Japanese players do that too?

If there's a mismatch in how different cultures think the healer should be acting, I can see that being a source of them getting spooked, JP tanks ask for more self-sustain and get it, EN "calculated minimum" healers see this as a reason to keep the tank even less healed up, and it turns into a vicious cycle driving both role designs to a weird place?

We are over here airing our grievences about the battle update, but we also know that the english forums/players are ignored anyway and it really makes zero difference what we say.

So for those who speak Japanese, what does the JP forums/streamers think about what was announced?

Why not just go look yourself? Google translate's good enough.

Taking a look in the dps forum, sam thread seems to be predominantly, "new skills look good, but we don't like the meikyo > tsubame link." 0 mentions of kaiten.

Their general rpr thread hasn't had a new post since April. They have a thread specifically for not wanting the enshroud model to be mandatory that got a handful of posts about seraphism lol.

Their general forum has like 6 active threads and I didn't see anything super noteworthy in any of them.

My main takeaway is that as much as this forum is dead, the JP forum is even deader.

But yes across almost all platforms absolutely nobody seems to like Seraphism

I kind of feel bad for the artists, 'cause it does seem pretty (at least from what we could see of the back of it)...

Not a good thing considering all the recent news from SE. Maybe news from the media tour will shed some light and move the hype train along because the live letter left that train stuck at the station.

Japan is xenophobic towards foreigners, a reason for us to hope JP is complaining about the same things. We know the devs barely listen to EN feedback unless we scream for months on end, and even then if they listen they probably won't take action. JP devs would be far more likely to listen to JP player feedback, so any amount of JP forum activity, big or small, that aligns with NA's and EU'S values and wishes is a win, a minor one yes, but still a win.

As someone who understands a little Japanese, I advise anyone in this thread to not generalize JP players (or anyone really). Sure, a lot of JP players think "clearing content with less conflict = good" but not everyone is in agreement. In the second thread above, some people said things along the line of "It doesn't feel good for the healer if they just sat dead for the whole boss" or "Maybe it's not healthy if we instance in, see a DRK and feel like we lost the lottery". If i had to summarize though, the thread seems to be more "The content is easy anyway, it doesn't matter that much". I disagree but again, it's not uniform.

There's also the language barrier, it's very difficult to convey to English speakers how differently the languages express ideas. Bilingual speakers might understand this but sometimes concepts just straight up doesn't exist in other languages. Point is that in the end the ideas expressed isn't really that much different. Some JP players still flame the 1-button DPS rotation, some are just as toxic as the people here, some people think that barrier healer and pure healer difference is silly. The expression is different, the idea is the same.
