They don't even make the top level of play more accessible with their changes, they basically just cut off the top. Then they keep on cutting off the top until the people who complain get to touch the ceiling.

I don't buy the argument of "There are people who want to optimise but cannot play well enough to". There's no reason to be at the top other than personal pride (or bragging rights), and if someone wants those, well, earn it. If the skill ceiling is brought down, that victory wasn't earned, it's like forcing the people who run faster than you to wear weights so you can have a chance to beat them.
