Most fitting Patron Deity for Scholar?

i was wondering what you guys thought would be Scholars best fit when it comes to the twelve.
I personally chose Thaliak because of the pursuit of knowledge archetype and the fact he literally is titled "The Scholar", additionally using arcane runes and symbols during his fight!
However Oschon or Llymlaen would also be great fits, since Nym itself had Oschon "the Wanderer" as its patron deity. "The Navigator" fits the whole theme of sea travel and raging winds and tides really well too.

I also chose Thaliak because of his sphere being knowledge. Considering that the original scholars were Nymian marine war tacticians/medics, the Navigator does fit quite a bit as well if you prefer that Scholar's side.

As far as my memory of the lore goes, there are no mention of any diety within the scholars of Nym. But since they're a nation within the La Noscean region, the most logical one would be Llymlaen.

The collective nyrmian society has oschon as their patron diety, you can see his symbol all throughout both versions of the wanderers palace (plus the name wanderers palace given oschon’s title is the wanderer)

IDK this game did such a good job of fleshing out deryk over the other 11 it’s hard for me to go past oschon for near anything. Anything tangitally related to oschon I always end up picking him just because deryk was treated so much better than the other 11

Just to explain why Oschon fits over Thaliak: Thaliak might be the deity of Knowledge and Study, but in Wandering - you experience the world in its full details.

For the Nymians and their Mage-Officers (Scholars), Understanding is more important when faced with unknown situations that no book exists for. How do you combat the Amdaporian White Mages, who possess a terrifying power over the elements, an understanding of the aether within that allows them to animate stone and even shred the life-force of others with not just magics, but CURATIVE magics. Or the Mhachi Black Mages that possess powers of untold destruction and the capability to not just fuel summonings, but dominate Voidsent by their Void Mages.

There were no books or theories that the Nymians could turn to, especially with their limited mages and the secrets of White and Black Magic as state secrets.

It was through the sheer precision of their own magics and the resourcefulness of creating new spells, strategies, and tactics that allowed them to weather so many assaults against these other two powers.

And when a disease pops up where no books can explain it, it’s not through knowledge, but the ability to explore unknown paths and pick the right course.

And I think lastly, the Sharlayans valued Knowledge and the creation of Knowledge over all else, that they also seemed to miss out on the importance of Experiencing the world (for good reason though as we find out in EW). There’s a coldness to the Sharlayan way of doing things. For Scholars being commanders and doctors, it’s not enough to just Know things, it’s also understanding how people work and interact. An intelligent commander is one thing, but an understanding commander is much much better.

    Hopefully that convinces!
