pld was just not good compared to a drk war combo, as so much was magic based back then, and war is the etenral favorite

ninja is a hard lock in do to trick and the way the adjusted enmity for tanks, and dragoon for pierce debuff for mch/brd ,

sure balance was swingy and everyone was distnct, but it meant there were some hard loser jobs because of it.

this just goes back into my previous post about how none of this shit just actually mattered. those combos were better, yeah, but literally every job was capable of clearing the hardest fights in the game. i went through all of hw content as a mnk with literally zero issues. i'm sorry you were partied with people who wanted to pretend these were real problems.

I was there, all jobs were fine in ARR all the way to SB. PLD wasn't as good as WAR through most of it but by no means was it a bad tank; same with Monk. The focus should be on making the cake have some flavor again, right now the menu has no flavor, everything you order (FFXIV jobs) from that menu is all the same flavor with slight sprinkles and coloring.

Any artist worth his salt would tell you that every art piece you make should be different from the last one. Square enix has buried this basic concept in a graveyard somewhere.

The question is.. can combat even save this game? The way content has been released has been the same for years. You might play your class a little more braindead than before but..is that really all this game needs? I think it needs a lot more than just combat lol

Agree. After Dawntrail MSQ, leveling the new jobs, and sidequests i'm most likely out, there's nothing to do. No relic to grind, no long term anything; the tome gear's meaningless; just buy whatever crafter gear is up at the marketboard and you're set.

It would make more sense for Chainsaw II or whatever it's called to also be a line AoE is what I'm getting at.

AoEs that are meant to be executed in sequence should have the same radius as it's just intuitive.

Why though? Wouldn't it be more interesting if they were different?

System being ok, isn't really good enough just being "acceptable" is the issue, the combat is bare bones and barely passes as fun.

HW, was the opposite issue, But lets not pretend that everyone is just asking for hw 2.0, people are here are asking for something more akin to SB/Shb (somewhere inbetween that), people are asking for supports (tank/healers) to actually feel more interesting then their current design.

FF14 is a good game, but it could be a better game by a mile if the job system was more interesting, nice fight design goes well with actually interesting a diverse job gameplay.

People who keep advocating for less interactions with the combat should quite frankly shut the hell up and stick with their trash housing, gposing, limsa afking and lifestyle shit. The XIV casual community really loves to deprive people who like to engage with PvE content just because they personally would gladly spend no more than 5 minutes getting all that done so they focus on their second life FF edition.

The casual community is what keep this game alive. When all of the mid-to-hardcore players quit because they bumrushed through content to get their Extreme/Savage kick and then quit, it's the casual players who stay subbed on a month-to-month basis. That's not to say there is anything wrong with enjoying FFXIV in either capacity, but don't go blaming another group of players for your misgivings, and being a complete ass about it, when they are not to blame.

Its funny, because in my experience, the worst offenders in the "limsa afking" crowd are the raiders, who need somewhere to show off their shiny weapons. Most of limsa on Jenova is crowded with ultimate weapons.

IDK it's hard to say "casuals don't know any better or aren't inclined to learn for whatever reason so why do they care so much" without it sounding insulting.
