SCH and WHM having their graphical identities combined

Why is it that they have decided to constantly combine SCH and WHMs motif.

The Dawntrail job trailer introduces us to a few new abilities that have me perplexed, and frustrated at the lack of individuality SCH and WHM have from each other.

Astrologian and Sage have very clear individual motifs: Celestial bodies and technology respectively.

SCH could have easily followed a beautiful and brightly coloured Titania like route instead of the forced White magic looking transformation (Not to mention, as lovely as Seraph is she is quite out of place).Or better yet, actually retain their tactician roots!

Please leave the feathers/hallowed themes to White mage, as its seen in their LB3, WHM lore specific dungeons and White magic based enemies. Along with the new DT ability with an unknown name.

Please give us our individuality.

Scholar should have followed its very roots, those that pertained to its original questline, ie being a tactician with the fairy as an aide... Now it makes no sense at all.

I don't disagree with any of this, but pretty sure SCH's LB3 has been inundated with feathers since 3.0

This problem already existed when SCH lost its warlock features and lacked any cohesive identity. It has just been getting worse. Both jobs suck, frankly, compared to other paths they could/should have taken. They should be taken outside and put down.

Or just Scholar, since now I guess it has no real identity between WHM and SGE.

it feels like it’s leaning into SCH as a theological scholar (like those scholasticate folks) rather than a student of military history or medicine. and most likely it won’t display ears/horns, because the miqote character’s tail disappears…

but what theology? the nymians worshipped oschon, the wanderer, but we never see anyone in the SCH questlines who wears a similar outfit (unless you count the tonberries…lol), nor is there any suggestion that clergy were involved in the activities of the nymian marines during the war of the magi (if there was, i stand corrected). i think this is just another instance of people on the design team not having a shred of familiarity with any lore prior to 5.0, or just not caring about things being cohesive. maybe someone on the art team made “holy enshroud” form for fun and someone else was like “hey we can use that”

I can kinda see where you are coming from, but I think you are oversimplifying it.

I think there is a somewhat unavoidable overlap in the aesthetic design of White Mages and Scholars. To me, they are both somewhat nature-focused. White Mages certainly are what with their communing with Elementals and their concern with the natural flow of aether and the creatures that interact with it. But similarly the Scholars have a nature themed identity with their association with Faeries and perhaps maybe Fae folk in general.

I think there is room to allow Scholars to have their Seraphism as an ability where Lily enchants you with the blessing of Fae folk, but I do agree it does look perhaps a bit too angelic at first glance. I don't think White Mage has a monopoloy on that kind of design. Hell, with the exception of limit breaks there is nothing that really gives White Mages that identiy except sorta maybe Temperance.

Imagine it being called 'Nymian Might', you float a little bit above the ground, get fairy wings of light, have some 'formulaic' visual effects in a glowy aura around you, but you keep your actual character looks, instead of an 'enshroud' transformation. Maintains character looks, would not be some TEMU grade readymade cosplay look.
