NM drops?

Hello

quick one, I find different info depending on the website I check so I would like to be sure: Do you need to defeat a NM in a specific job to get specific item?

For instance, I want the Taurus Staff (for Thaum) from NM Sirocco. Do I need to kill him as a Thaum to get it or any job would do?

Some site seems to suggest it influence drop rate but some don't so I am unsure and don't want to farm as WHM is it will never drop

Any class/job works.

While I'm out doing Botany in Humblehearth, I kill Sirocco all the time. I always kill it on my WAR and get plenty of Taurus Staves.

I have killed it , with DRG many times and gotten 3 staves in those kills, as i cant say for sure that it helps the drop rate, it is not a necessity!! Some NMs are more stingy than others in my experiance ^^ GL though
