Summoner 7.0 Actions/Future Growth Feedback After Watching 7.0 Actions Video

These are just my thoughts. I hope Square-Enix or the developing team reads this feedback and anyone who might agree. I hope this makes sense! This is my first post on any forum or platform, so I apologize if I posted in the wrong spot for feedback or if someone had mentioned this before! I'm still navigating how to do forum stuff on this site.

I think everyone here expected all six elementals for Summoner. I've read that developers or people concerned with future growth. The team that comes up with summoner mechanics can always add, remove, and innovate. As someone who has been a long-time hardcore Summoner fan, I'm disappointed with how 7.0 Summoner actions will be.

This is just something I thought of after watching the video for ideas on how summoners could potentially be.

    ○ In terms of fear of growth for future expansions, I think this can easily be remedied without compromising how summoners should or always have been. The idea that we have to wait this long to get all six elements of the summon is disappointing and odd at the same time, particularly since we're getting another "demi" summon again before the other 3 elements. Also, in every Final Fantasy lore, the standard 6 elements are obtained first before getting like a powerful summon like Bahamut, Phoneix, or Odin in any Final Fantasy series.

    ○ They can always change them to provide growth or interesting different mechanics and rotations if they replace such skills or expand on Ruin, Searing Light, Addle, Surecast, Sleep, and Physick. Each summoned primal gives the summoner a changed ability to the respective elemental first and secondary attack abilities we can get after summoning for a duration. They can continually expand or introduce different skills even from those phases.

    ○ They can also change all the non-frequently used spells. As a hardcore summoner player, I rarely, or, if at all, use Surecast/Sleep/Physick. These three spells are pointless and barely impact solo content, regular dungeons/raids, or even harder content that would benefit me or my party. And I am sure some of the previous Summoners in the Final Fantasy series had the whole Summoner + White Mage, but Rydia from FF4 was the first summoner-only job and had no healing abilities. All she did was summon the deities/mystical beasts. And for the sake of rotations/complexity/simplicity, Summoners should have at least the ability to summon the six elements before adding another "Demi" summon phase. All the other summoner/arcanist abilities can be changed to add more variety or exciting mechanics that can be simplified or complex to supplement or provide additional or interesting flavor.

    ○ Ideas for more complexity: they can add something similar but different, like BLM. Allow the summoner to have an option via summoning the primal Astral (Phoenix) Trance and an Umbral (Bahamut) Trance, each reflecting the elements on the wheel of the elements. And, of course, they can summon those elements with differing abilities respective and within the whole lore of the Astral and Umbral wheel of elements. Though more rotation, I think it would create more substance or strategy for summoners to choose which phase they want from during fights.

    ○ For simplicity or if the software development team is on a budget and constraints, they can add the 3 last elemental primal during Phoenix (which I'm sure many thought would have happened in 7.0, including myself). Still, with a similar output of damage to the other Primals, and since the in-game animations are already there, I don't think it requires as many resources since most, if not at least half, of the coding and animations are already in the game. Again, their post-summoning ability phases (such as after summoning the elemental abilities changes for Precious Brilliance/GemShine/AstralFlow), or our non-frequent or non-impactful abilities, should or can be replaced to enhance or provide supplemental DPS damage abilities to give a different feel of range cast DPS play-style. Plenty of ideas exist to change it or give it a different feel.

Regarding the possibility of removing the resurrection ability, I think if they are going to remove an ability, it should be Physick. As a summoner, that spell/ability does nothing AT ALL. I would say swift cast + Resurrection + Lucid Dream are the only Arcanist/Summoner functional non/DPS abilities. All the other skills are hardly adequate or make a difference and are "meh" at best. These are the abilities they can easily replace to create exciting or different add-ons to change up the summoner, but to wait and not get the 6-element primal/summons even before getting the "demi" summons? I am disappointed. Whatever the outcome may be, I love Summoner too much; I love the lore of being able to summon powerful deities or mythical beings of the elements. I'll still play my summoner, just not as excited about the changes.

Side-Comment: is the white-hue-like effect essential for the summons to be "different" from the primal? I think it can separate or simplify it by just implementing on the part of the summon's body of their respective stones, small but easily recognized when they are summoned (Topaz-Titan, Ruby-Ifrit, Emerald-Garuda, Amethyst-Ramuh, Sapphire-Leviathan, Diamond-Shiva). These stones can be on their forehead or the body, like on the chest, small but sizable and recognizable, and for the sake of lore, it can essentially be the summoner's imbuing their "essence" to control the primal and give the primal form, especially now that we learned what we know about primals in Endwalker content. So, I don't think it's necessary to create or feel the need for players not to be able to summon Shiva because Shiva inhabited a host. The Diamond-stone can essentially be Shiva's imbued essence that concentrated "aether," which allows it to give it form (plus, a diamond would be appropriate, considering her iconic ability is "Diamond Dust"). Since their abilities are already flashy, I think the "white hue" is overkill in the brightness or flashiness, especially since they are casting a flashy ability; the game is bright and white enough as it is...

Sorry! I wrote a limit of more than 3000 characters per post, so I had to post each one separately.

I agree that we should’ve gotten the other 3 gems before the next demi… it just feels wrong! And it’s the easiest way to both increase the number of summons and abilities without button bloat, since they can all proc off the gems like the original 3. I’d always thought Levi could be aquamarine and Shiva could be sapphire, but you have a point with diamond! lol as long as I get a sapphire somewhere!

I was also intrigued by your idea of an astral vs. umbral trance. I feel like they’re putting a lot of jobs in transition mode for whatever big plans they have in the next expansion, so hopefully they’re paying attention to player feedback. But I think a lot of us were hoping for something more for level 90-100. Still love the job, still going to main it… but give me my other 3 gems! PCT is going to have all their elements by 100!

As far as the Resurrection debate, it kinda balances now having 2 casters that can rez and 2 that can’t. As good as it feels to pull off a well-timed rez, I wouldn’t be totally devastated if they removed it, but hopefully it would be to make space for something big. That said, I agree that Physick is the weakest link… either increase its potency to be in line with the other rez mage, RDM Vercure which is actually useful, or scrap it altogether. If we’re going to share anything else with SCH, I’d rather have Expedient!

You want to keep your Surecast though… lol that’s your anti-knockback!
