With the new Job actions again... PLEASE bring back Job Quests!

Honestly, for a game with such a heavy focus on its lore that it's managed to publish 3 enormous encyclopedias, the lack of focus on any Job explanation anymore is felt more and more ever since they got the shaft for "Role" focuses. It's really disappointing to constantly now just guess how we've come across skills.

And yes, I know there've been comments made that "Oh, the WoL has surpassed anyone who could teach them anything" and "Oh, the WoL is just forging their own path now" but even then, it doesn't explain half the things that turn up. Even if we *are* developing things on our own, why can't that be the focus of a quest line anyway? I would much rather have less terrible side quests in a zone and have focus redirected to Job Quests properly again, if we absolutely have to give up anything.

The Job Trailer this morning alone just made it clear how much stuff comes out of nowhere with 0 explanation. What on earth is Seraphism? Where the heck did Solar Bahamut come from? The masses deserve to know! Please!

Only if they can make them actually meaningful. Some of them were getting pretty bad. Warrior played the "Curious Gorge loses control" card too much, white mage's StB story was really a conjurer quest, and paladin....well, okay, those quests were ALWAYS terrible, but still.

i really miss sidurgu.. cant we just have more adventures with them instead of being trained by them. i had really grown attached to some of them

i would really like them to merge Job quest and role quest.
where we basically have 4 quest lines but instead of roles they are assigned to multiple jobs so lets say DRK,SGE,DNC,NIN are in one batch while WAR,WHM,MCH and RDM are in another
still giving us more lore for said jobs but also adding fun or interesting character interaction between each job teacher/quest giver.

i think this is a good middle ground where they don't have to write different 17+ quest while also giving people more job specific dialogue and flavor.

I understand why they stopped with job quests. It's not very sustainable in the long run.

That being said... Instead of an obligation every expansion, I wish we actually had optional job quests when it made sense. For example, imagine a DNC quest chain in their homeland Thavnair. I feel it's kind of sad that we got to see the place and there's barely any lore referencing Dancers over there. Just a temple, a couple of dancers as background character at a bar and the occasional Radiant Host wielding chakrams.

Couldn't agree more. AST's job quests showed relentless assassination attempts approved by the forum, only to not have a single mention of that storyline in Sharlayan.

It's hard to imagine them giving the go-ahead for such an extreme measure to stop astrology being taught outside their borders after you complete EW, and would've been cool to see a questline tackle that.

I feel the current system's perfect since the new jobs still get job quests. The issue with xiv is they stopped adding job lore after job quests. Even those encyclopedias don't add any new lore.

This is due to our character no longer learning from the majority of the job stones. We have been imprinting onto the stones for awhile now. Unless you main Machinist then you've always have been. Heck Dragoon started to imprint on theirs with the HW story as we were coming up with moves no Ishgardian taught lance wielding person had been taught. Partly thanks to being an adventurer and going up against a variety of other lance users. The other having been taught by the lancer's guild in Gridania. That and some storylines felt like they had real nice closure at the end of their Stormblood stories.

So long as NEW jobs continue to get quests I don't feel like the old ones really need new quests/lore. Though there are some missed opportunities like no dancer quest in Thavnair.
