    7.0 DRG Update: Why replace Spineshatter with a dash? Isn't DRG supposed to jump?

    If the explanation is something along the lines of "it's easier on the devs" then it's a cop-out at the expense of the customer experience, not a fix or an update.

    How else does it make sense to replace TWO charges of JUMPS which are the signature move for the job with a... (rechecks notes) ...grounded dash on a.. (and I cannot enphasize this harder) ...DRAGOON?

    Who thought that was an idea that made sense and why even?

    That's it. Just another feedback rant hoping enough ppl agree.

    (Also, the SMN "Solar" Bahamut looks more like downgrade being a much skinnier and pokemon-looking dragon with much shorter wings and...robotic?)

    Agreed. If they just removed the damage from Spineshatter Dive I would be totally fine with that. If the fact that SD looks like an attack is the issue then fair enough, but it should be replaced with some sort of jumping animation, not a generic dash. The dash doesn't suit the fantasy of DRG at all.

    If I had to guess why they went with a dash instead of a jump for a generic gap closer it'd probably be because jump animations are always going to be more delayed than a simple shuffle over. If the skill is going to be used to engage a boss from a standing start, jumps have historically sucked for that compared to something like the mnk dash. Just that fraction of a second delay to the start of your GCD meant you'd sometimes miss a GCD at the end of a window

    Personally, I think the dash is fine, especially since it's a situational skill and one that may not even get used in any given encounter. I guess it just feels bad in the context of losing 2 jumps in return for it.

    You could see it as a forward jump. It maybe fit better with follow up attacks. I wonder more, if it will have the same reach as before.

    I think their reasoning is must probably what you said Reldhir, but I still think its a workaround. Gameplaywise it may be a plus in the end but I still would need to know if it's just one charge or two, if it does dmg or not (which in the trailer seemd like it didn't). If it doesn't then the dmg the two spineshatter dives did (which is not that significant really, just something to weave in but still), is it compensated somehow in the new rotation? does it have the same range as Spineshatter? etc.

    @CidHeiral: Yeah the dmg is not that significant but it's very functional movementwise. Also 2 charges. If the dash will have 2 as well that would be more tolerable and have the tiny dmg the 2 SDs did be somehow compensated in the new rotation. Still a dash replacing a signature jump in a DRG doesn't feel right.

    A gapcloser is unnecessary when you can already Elusive Jump backwards to the enemy with a bit of practice and have flavor and individuality and skill expression instead of just being like every other job.

    Spineshatter Dive wasn't a great skill, but Dragoon has plenty of worse ones to remove. Who asked for another low-level skill to be cored out and for the early game to become even more boring?

    This new gap closer is awful. I would've loved it they gave us an elusive jump that goes forward and can be used out of combat, but dropping Spineshatter for this charge? How disappointing.

    The new gap closer animation not only does not fit DRG (or any class really, it looks weird), it makes the class worse overall from an aesthetic point of view.

    I don't understand why you'd put so much effort into DRG's iconic jumps and drop one for what looks like a place holder animation.

    Please drop this lack luster gap closer before launch.
