There really is no flavour in cards where if you replaced the card with a 60 second oGCD that healed/mitigated the same thing you’d end up in an identical spot

Saying “new tank card is like old bole so flavour is coming back” is an incorrect statement because the interesting part of old bole was finding uses for it when you drew it. New bole is basically just aquaveil. There is no strategy or attempt to mitigate bad RNG, you just get single target oGCD’s you don’t need and have even less reactions than actual CD’s because you don’t even have to use them or put them on CD because the actual CD is on draw so you aren’t even “allowed” to waste them

It’s literally the most flavourless beige system they possibly could possibly make and has basically made AST’s niche “weirdly (and pointlessly) good at single target healing”

Returning i.e. Bole plainly as it is would just be synonymous to giving AST "Exaltation/CI 3.0 but card animation/VFX".

I’ve been lurking the forums, holding my tongue for more than a year since AST/DRG rework announcements, just waiting for launch in order to get all 4 healers to 100 so no one can gaslight me about my criticisms like they always do…

(You haven’t even played yet, stop complaining. Wait for tooltips. Wait for the live letter. Just play savage or ultimate if you want to have fun. If you get more damage buttons, you won’t heal us. You don’t need weaving windows or engaging gameplay. You’ll really need to heal more in content this time. Etc.)

The issue is, even being excedingly optimistic, any Feedback posted after 7.0 will unlikely to be acted on until 8.0, and even the Feedback given now may not actually be used for changes during the 7.x Patches. Even if the devs would read any of it and agree.

You're gonna get gaslit no matter what you do; people who argue in bad faith always move the goalpost. Ultimates were cleared without healers and that's all that needs to be said.

Its kinda funny that I came close to predicting what would happen to Astrologian, I guessed that Astrodyne would be removed the card would just be a damage buff every 60 seconds and that Queen/King would be removed. I however didn't expect them to all be folded into the cards lol.

Judging by the media tour leaks, it seems like cards will be unbelievably boring. Mit card seems to be a flat shield/flat mit, the heal is a regen/burst heal. Damage remains melee/ranged (or it might be magic/physical? The leaker wasnt clear).

These are leaks, so take them with a grain of salt, but with the embargo set to end a couple days from now, I don't expect to be proven wrong. I hope to god I am, though...

It's purely creative bankruptcy. They just have this nebulous definition of a healer they're trying to make all of the classes fit into, without any regards for how the identity of the classes actually function. They just saw people complaining about the RNG of minor arcana and dyne (not the cards, I literally never saw anyone complaining about the cards themselves being RNG), and the lack of unique effects. So they're just making this amalgamation of negative feedback and just spitting it out without realizing hey, at some point this class kinda stopped resembling Astrologian. Like the only real identity it has kept beyond aesthetic at this point is the concept of delayed and chargeable healing. I expect them to keep that, and while I do like it... What's the point of playing a class for its 'healing style' when fights are designed with a one-size-fits all mindset? What's the difference between asylum and opposition when the former is map wide? The heal amp? Lmao. What's the difference between macrocosmos healing to full after a raidwide and zoe pneuma doing the same thing? The fact that you have to press the button beforehand or have to press two buttons instead? Is that seriously what healers are now? Slight variations in the order you press your generic 'heal the raidwide' button? AST having an overload of meaningless single target heals and mits isn't gonna mean anything bc warrior and paladin can full heal a dungeon by themselves, with gunbreaker and dark knight not far behind. They won't mean much when they're taking a tankbuster bc if they cant survive without astro's bloated mit and heals, then they would die with a white mage. And that would cause issues. So at that point, you'd just be throwing meaningless tools onto the stack that do nothing. And that's even ignoring the odds that fights arent going to be designed with all these new healing tools in mind. Why would they be? They weren't in ShB or EW. Is it bc YoshiP said so? He also said Viper is a highly technical job, too, when the rotation is basically an inverse ninja 123.

If it really turns out to be magical/physical split, then the dev team really doesn't know what they're doing because they'd have just effectively removed hybrid jobs like NIN and DRK from ever getting cards.

Although maybe that is their solution for carding the DRK being optimal in some cases....
