

Looks like you start with Astral cards preloaded, and your first draw is the Umbral set. That'll mean you'll draw Astral set during odd minutes and sit on the balance/lord until your burst phase.
-No Lightspeed buff
-No adjustment to MP restoration despite Draw's CD doubled and Astrodyne gone
-Card damage buffs are the same despite Draw's CD doubled, and other card effects are similarly weak (how often does a single-target 10% healing buff really save someone?)
-No actual new actions (92/96/100 are upgrades) yet no reduction in buttons either
-Synastry, Horoscope, Celestial Intersection are unchanged (CI and Spire both give 400p shields to one person, could they not be one button that gives a 6-800p shield? Or make one of those actions spread a card's effects to the party?)
-Still only one ED charge until 78
Feels like it's already being set up to get buffed in 7.1 or sooner.
Cards are about what I was expecting, MP issues may indeed be on the horizon but I'm sure it'll end up patched. I still remember on SHB drop when many AST could not heal the dungeons that was great, actually was nice to feel more engaged with the healing there honestly! I prefer these cards over EW ones still, I will now ask for the next two years for some card manipulation and time mechanics added for 8.0! At least in the meantime I can enjoy my old main again. Looking like lightspeed won't be mandatory for burst so we can actually use it for movement again or clutch rez which is nice.
Across the board we got fairly few new actions for many jobs and it's about what I was expecting. For some I am glad the playstyle will be similar such as RPR. Others I like the changes like BLM or MNK. Hoping 8.0 gives us a decent shake up because it is a little sad to keep my DRK benched another two years after putting it down in SHB. Lookin forward to seeing how slow crit blm is in DT also.
Draw will probably replenish 20% like SCH, or each Play gives 5% too. Doubt anything else gets changed in the meantime though.
this is not great. i don’t have anything constructive to say that hasn’t already been said, just posting through my feelings and adding another dissenting voice. I hope they either reconsider this or make draw have a shorter recast so we can draw more cards for more mp and still keep some semblance of a 1min “burst“ by actually having a card to play at 60s.
other things they could do that would make this maybe, sorta, potentially not terrible:
- randomize which damage card is pulled into astral/umbral draw. I know this conflicts with the card elemental correspondences, but honestly who cares
- damage % increase is the only thing here that is always useful but it’s also so boring. why not have a card that’s like a tiny haima with vengeance that activates when a certain amount of damage is taken? wouldn’t have to be just for tanks, you could throw it on a caster during a bleedwide or multihit or something. putting effects like this on the mit card for ex would make it something you’d want to use on someone every draw to squeeze out a tiny amount of extra dps, even if the mit is far from necessary
- give us some way to consume remaining heal/shield cards if we don’t need them, otherwise they will either go unused or thrown around haphazardly before draw is back up. we could either consume them for a spear/balance, randomly chosen, or maybe a lord
- mp card?
just coping and spitballing here. i doubt this version of astro is here to stay since feedback has been negative (from what I can tell??)

ok so i have played astro for years and it was my favorite healer, thy have taken everything that made it fun and thrown it away. changing the cards to give you one buff isnt an improvment its a nuttering theres no reason to use the other two cards in most content. outside extremes and there its just all your heals are better. the cards no longer mater and you know what your getting so there no need to think. Just click sellect and click again its absolutly boring. sage has become my main becuse your actily do things not just two reasorces to manage but also when its good to damage and when to heal. astro is absolutly boring even white mage has more character and build up. ive now leveled astro to level 95 and its been boring Im messing up mechanics so i'm at least got something to do with these cards.
the homogany of jobs has to stop squar needs to realize having jobs with higher complexity is a good thing. it means these jobs will be there for people with the experance to understand them. astros rng mechanic was grate for thinking on your feet and reacting to what you got. every run wasnt the same and now it is I knwo what im getting every time and when ill get it. this isnt an improvment outside of high end content which a small part do. this along with how bord i am with viper has really made me worried about any job rework. it feels like they tried something that sounded good but outside of testing has been met with negativity and im not calling for a reversal but please just give use more buff cards. make them more usfall outside of really pointless situations.
