#FFXIVHEALERSTRIKE
- Seraphism is BAD.
- Give us back Shadowflare and make Deployment/Emergency Tactics affect Biolysis
- Give us back Rouse
- Make pet management rewarding.
To be fair to seraphism, and since there's nearly no information on what seraph is let alone this ability it's pure speculation, this could be their attempt at allowing the player a shiva-style summoning. I don't think this works for a variety of reasons, not least that it doesn't thematically fit from what we know, but if the face remains similar but tone shifte, as with ysale/ryne, then it could be what they're aiming at. Of course if it's just kymru or whatever the palace holy angel thing is called then I have no idea.
If they were going for that angle wouldn’t that disallow us from summoning seraph at the same time because we would have “summoned her into our body”To be fair to seraphism, and since there's nearly no information on what seraph is let alone this ability it's pure speculation, this could be their attempt at allowing the player a shiva-style summoning. It would be a downgrade...To be fair to seraphism, and since there's nearly no information on what seraph is let alone this ability it's pure speculation, this could be their attempt at allowing the player a shiva-style summoning. WoL can already do that with a certain mount ; like a certain sage did before.
WoL more or less became a primal a while ago ; while them channeling aspects of whatever entity to use their power is not to exclude, the only thing notable about that boss is that it was so weak you killed it three times.
Disappointed with the transformation of scholar (summoner/scholar are my mains) personally I'm not overly fond of how we got a copy/paste from white mage but worse type skill, however whether you transform or not is personal preference so lets just carry on with the transformation part, it looks nothing like seraph/fairy etc, in fact the wings from the white mage would make more sense visually. It feels like there is no consistency or thought with the progression or attributes of scholar. The fairies have a specific look and feel but when we transform we get cardboard wings that look super stiff, and at first glance I doubt anyone would associate them with the fairies or scholar without being told.
The fact that WHM got "fairy wings" in Endwalker and SCH get "angel form" in DT is pretty ironic.
It's like the people who's job it is to design healers don't even get the basic themes of the specific jobs.
I mean.. they literally said in the Live Letter they don't even know or use the ingame names ; so there was probably a post-it "for the boring healer" on the animation and it was just a mistake...
I've never played Scholar, so I'm going to offer an outside perspective of what the job looks like to non-SCH players.
I saw Scholar divided into its:
- Attacking characteristics (Plague Doctor DoT gameplay, before it became a 1 button job)
- Defensive characteristics (Academic/Researcher/University Student that has studied up on what it fights to effectively counter it using shields - due to the book, the graduation-style hat, and the eyeglasses that feature in most SCH artwork).
I had no idea it was supposed to be a military tactician.
Maybe I'm expecting more of a military commander aesthetic from the outfits as opposed to an Academic/Researcher/University Student... although, having googled some of them now, I can see some of them at least have some medals pinned to their chests/lapels. I might also just be ignorant of how military commanders are presented in other cultures (the hat strongly reminds me of graduating students in a ceremony...)
The angel transformation in the Dawntrail trailer being formed out of two fairies definitely doesn't communicate any "military tactician" vibes to me.
So I'm a bit confused on what Scholar is supposed to be.
SCH is just healer summoner, Seraph is their Ultimate summon, similar to how Bahamut is with SMN.
Its LB has always been Angel Feathers, while WHM got the generic LB (Aerith's) that used to belong to all healers.
Seraph is an actual healing FF summon from VI and not just from FFXIV, imo it makes sense that their "trance" would be their Ultimate summon, like how SMN grows Bahamut wings on LB.
The job that struggles with its identity is WHM, with the nature theme being overwritten by the holy theme. The job quests are all about WHM being powers bestowed by the elementals. And its relation to nature. But it lost that identity with ShB sadly.
They're tacticians but the core of the job was always the bond of the SCH with their fairies, the quests have the fairy accompany you to save her previous summoner, you only do tactics in the ACN quest. SCH quests are about saving the cursed owner of the fairy.
