I like the Concept, No it does not go against what scholar is. (If anything You can View it as A Fairy/Angel/Winged Creature of KNOWLEDGE/TACTICS)
It's basically Being True to what Fairies Are.
While WHMs have always been with the Elementals (Thus their More Connection to the elements. But also Inadvertently, Stasis/LightAether.)
There is no Conflict here.
While Seraphism could be represented in a better way, maybe have a Seraph Glow on the wings, or the whole body(lightly) its alright.

It is frustrating that SE seems reluctant to allow Scholar to keep a consistent theming with our skill set. At least some of the art team are aware of the tactical healer we began with since our new AF still follows the trends of the ones before it, but where is all this angelic robing and odd wings coming from? Why are we getting a visual transformation that removes our identity? Since we don't get story quests any more to explain these strange theming turns, it makes Scholar feel like a very hodgepodge of concepts that makes it increasingly harder to feel excited about playing.
Seems like theres 2 or three threads about this now so I’ll cross post my opinion from another one.
I do find it very odd that the class is being given a “churchy” vibe over time. Just doesn’t make a lot of sense to me. I think Scholar has been struggling with an identity problem for a long time, partly due to the shared origins with Summoner. Its too late obviously and I already stopped maining Scholar after Shadowbringers where it didnt feel fun anymore. I hope Scholar eventually finds its way. Christianity/Catholicism themes just aint it, and neither is throwing on a costumy winged nun outfit during battle.
I kinda wonder why they did the robes too? They could have just done fairy wings and a crown if they wanted us to transform without fully overriding how we want to dress and theme our characters. They could have made it Feo Ul themed!
I'm literally just gonna repost myself
Dear Mr. Yoshida-san
I like FAIRIES, not ANGELS
It's probably too late to redesign this, but it makes me sad. What a wasted opportunity.
It would have been so much fun to turn into something like Statice or Titania, and instead I'm about to morph into something that looks like belongs in the Sistine Chapel more than it does in FFXIV.
Oh well...

"I thought that my invincible power would hold the world captive, leaving me in a freedom undisturbed. Thus night and day I worked at the chain with huge fires and cruel hard strokes. When at last the work was done and the links were complete and unbreakable, I found that it held me in its grip." - Rabindranath Tagore
I'm also really not a fan of this transformation. Firstly, I feel like it's too similar to White Mage's holy aesthetic. I'm a big fan of Scholar's strategic non-robe based attire, so being forced into what would otherwise be the most quintessential WHM robe if it had any red complement is pretty sad from an identity perspective. If a forced form change is necessary I'd much rather it be a pixie esque outfit with fairy wings, or alternatively something to do with tonberries as I've seen other people suggest.
With Reaper, not only was it a new job, but being gifted power by a demon and changing form is a really common trope, and is also the core mechanic RPR was introduced with. I feel for a job that has existed since 2.0, something on the scale of Temperance/Inner Release would have been better, since it's not a drastic glam change, while also having a big impact on your character. I also feel that the small gold angel wings just end up looking a little tacky in comparison, like they were obtained as a cheap halloween costume.
It'd also probably be less egrigous if we had job quests to explain the lore behind the action but obviously since they've been cut there's not really any chance of learning this wihout waiting for a new lorebook lmao.

All they need to do is replace the church choir garb with like a set of floating maps and tactics around the SCH and the skill would be perfect (if a bit boring)
The dot follow up to chain is thematically perfect why did they get this skill so wrong
