Another Bahamut? Why not Odin? (SMN 7.0 job action PLL feedback)

And what about Leviathan, Ramuh, & Shiva?
There are 6 main elements of FFXIV, why only 3 of them have summons? It feels incomplete.
Also Ifrit, Shiva, Leviathan, Ramuh, Phoenix, Bahamut, & Odin are the most prominent summons in FF series, so the fact that SMN in FFXIV can only summon half of them, and they even chose to add another bahamut over odin as the lvl 100 summon, feels disappointing.

What are you talking about ? Of course Bahamut the mechanical dragon with sword wings is the most famous summon.
also, don't look at the Madduin Picto got, it's completely unrelated to your job XD

I have to agree - I get that they probably did it to save on resources but Odin and Alexander were right there...

if you really wanted to just update the bahamut model, could have just replace the current one and be like Lunar Bahamut and Solar Phoenix

It looks like they took inspiration for the Bahamut from XVI to me.
Yoshi and the devs must of loved it, considering they said you're going to summon Solar Bahamut between both gaps between normal Bahamut and Phoenix.
The reason they gave seemed weird though: "The version of Bahamut you know is the Allagan version. This is another version." Isn't the version we know the one Tiamat, his sibling/lover, summoned? Is Solar Bahamut like some weird, heroic version from Meracydia or something? (ಠ_ರೃ) ~?

Personally, I would of loved to get a Shiva form where we assume the powers of Shiva. We do personally know up to two Shivas, after all. (◍´͈ꈊ`͈◍)

I recommend taking another look at the FF16 Bahamut it looks completely different from anatomy to concept it's not even using a sword but a laser/gun theme for its body.

I agree with the TC and am shocked they went with this choice. It doesn't make sense to me and yeah the art is really nice for the new Bahamut but what in the world who thought and agreed to a pitch that said SMN you know what would make for an exciting addition? ANOTHER Bahamut!! I dunno it's bordering bad comedy, I'm just baffled.
But too late to really do anything about it.

I like it honestly. I had been wanting Alexander, Odin, Ramuh, Leviathan, etc... for years and years, but I'm also positively surprised by this new one, I would have never expected this. I'm happy that they turned around what people expected in a pretty good form.

I remember hearing rumors or something about Solar Bahamut and thinking "What a dumb idea that is". Well, now it is a sad reality. Honestly, kinda agree with the fact it is a wasted opportunity, considering both Alexander and Odin are right there. And not even talking about Shiva, Ramuh, and Leviathan waiting for their turn.

The design choice for Solar Bahamut is also weird. "What if the Bahamut we know is not how he used to look". Like we know exactly how he used to look, cause he was summoned not by Allag, but by Tiamat who knew him better than anyone else. If anything, this Solar version looks like an artificial allagan fake. Kinda sad that for me both job fantasy and gameplay didn't become better for SMN.

It just baffles me that apparently it is easier for Summoner to summon some kind of space-bahamut noone has ever heard from, than an old dude with a beard or a blue Snake lol.

Maybe I am wrong and there is some unseen benefits, but this is basically level 70 summoner but every fourth demi-summon is phoenix instead.

I'll have to preface that I really like Solar Bahamut, then again I like dragons, so I might be biased.

But hey, Rica's at it with the same take as pre every expansion when the whining arises!

People really needed to accept that FF XIV Summoner would never be the same as FF XI Summoner or summoners from other main titles with dozens of summons years ago. Job Design is tightly knit to Lore in this game, and those people actually reading Job Quests know that in the world of FF XIV, the amount of primal aether a summoner can bind is limited. Or, in our case, 3 Egis. They brought the Trance Phases to play around the limit a little bit, but as had been confirmed in Lore interviews later, we can summon Phoenix and Bahamut because their aether completely drenches Eorzea and influenced the WoL by slowly osmosing into them before we technically got our first Egi - hence why the limit was reached after 3 Egis.

So, let's take another look at the Lore - we need to subdue a Primal/absorb the aether to actually be able to summon it. Which means that every primal hidden away in optional content is off the table - Odin and Alex as some people want, for example. Also, by having Bahamut's aether already, I suppose changing it with the power of Dynamis is possible, especially since summons are influenced by the summoner and their beliefs.

Could they just retcon the Lore and rewrite the Job Quests? Possibly. But after another 2 years, it's time to face the reality that this is what they want Summoner to be in the context of FF XIV, and it had been hinted at quite often. We can't just expect stuff from the other games to hold true here, or else we would have DPS DRK and Tank SAM.


Also, calling that new thing a reskin... well, it's another Bahamut, but reskinned model? The skeleton, maybe, and FF XIV does that a lot.

I do really lament not getting Leviathan and Shiva, as they're among my favourites, but it is what it is. (And I miss Heavensward SMN and my DoTs, but that dream is dreamed.)
