Spam of both for days, sometimes from more than one teammate. In fact, I don't think I've *ever* seen anyone use the quick chat for anything helpful or productive, at least not in casual Crystaline Conflict on Aether (maybe it's different on other data centers, or at least the non-dead ones where PVP actually pops). And it's not like the jerks spamming quick chat are any more immune from blacklisting as the jerks shouting during Frontlines/Rival Wings either when it comes to dealing with both, so I at least want a proper chat for *my* benefit and those who would use it properly because the toxic folks are going to be treated the same way regardless of how they're acting it out.

A proper chat wouldn't add anything more negative than what's already there basically, and quick chat probably even encourages some poor behavior because someone can be a snot with a press of a hotkey instead of having to stop and type out whatever variation of "you suck" they're thinking about.
I'd still say the quick chat is the lesser of the two evils. I would rather have a quick chat where the spam can be muted by turning down the system sounds, make a macro for it even. Rather than someone raging in text chat, stopping the match to type at each other, and saying rather vile things.

It wouldn't be such an issue if they bothered getting around to adding more (actually relevant) Quick-Chat phrases to alert and coordinate with your team. As it stands now, their intern PvP person PvP team looks at all things PvP maybe twice a year, while tiny potency job adjustments being based-off of CC winrates (and nothing more), gets maybe a third look. Anything else that requires adjustments or considered being added needs to go through the correct bureaucratic channels and processes before being voted on being put on the very back of the back-burner for maybe being squeezed into a large patch release. If it's already the latter half of an expansion cycle, it almost certainly won't be implemented until the next expansion. Any glamour or mounts they couldn't fit anywhere else gets tossed to the Wolf's Den vendors or PvP series.

Anywho. If they added more (relevant) Quick-Chat phrases at all at some point during this expansion after they added like, those extra 6 or whatever -it would have helped tremendously with coordination. Some basic ones to call attention to your teammates or just flat-out help with awareness would've gone a long way. I don't know why they feel like we needed "Hello" and "Good Match!" when we still don't have things like:

"Beware [Target Enemy]'s Limit Break!" (Which to be fair, would be a stealth nerf to almost all SAMs in Casual and low ranks)
"Help me!" (Though this will probably be overused. Especially by those people getting freaked-out from being chased around by a PLD)
    "Go heal up!"
    "They are focused on me!"
    "[Target Teammate], Assist me!"
    "My Guard/Purify is unavailable."
    "Don't chase the enemy!"
"Temporarily move away from the crystal"
    "Incoming arena hazard!"

    -as some examples.

Lord knows our PvP hotbars are barren enough to fit more Quick-Chats.

Something like "Follow me" or "Follow <player>" or "Go to/Move to <marker x>" would also be helpful.

With <marker x> I mean custom map markers or beacons you can place during the match. As of now you can already place markers but you can't really alert people to move there. So for the uninitiated they might look random (e.g. when people place markers on the oasis shortcut on the red sands map). But if you could make calls with movement directions you could direct your party in a more coordinated way and all in all communicate advanced strategies better.

"Shutting off" quick chat in that way just seems to emphasize how useless it currently is though, in that it rarely gets used as intended during a match and is always used for mockery after.

Hell, I don't even have any of the quick chat stuff on my own PVP hotbars because I already know they're a waste despite how much free space there is, and simply adding *more* quick chat options isn't going to make me any more inclined to care about them. On the contrary, it just adds more stuff I can safely ignore during a match (because they'll never be used properly anyway) or someone will turn one or more of the new quick chats into the new post-match insult.

Can people use normal chat to make jerks of themselves? Of course they will, I see it all the time in Frontlines/Rival Wings, but I also see the chat there make a difference with shot-calling/pinch warnings. With Crystaline Conflict, you just kinda derp-zerg into the crystal/enemy team and hope things work out for you because there's no useful way to communicate otherwise. Could be teamed up with AI-controlled bots at that point for all the difference it makes.

You sound rather assured in your defeatism. I find the quick chats handy for coordination and targeting when people use it along with macros. They could use with extra and more through and informative options like others have posted in this thread.

But, having free chat in CC would give an avenue for people to keyboard PvP. Which heavily affects 5v5 CC games as opposed to 24v24v24 FL games. Salt is gonna salt, sometimes the best thing is to restrict how the salt can flow.

If other people are getting results using quick chats in their matches, good for them, but my experience has gotten to the point where I treat them as background noise and ignore the chat completely in CC, and I've probably blocked just as many "nice job/push the crystal" spammers after a bad round of CC than I have salty loudmouths in FL/RW, even after taking into account some people pop off even when they're winning/already won, so it's not like one PVP mode is personally giving me more textual grief than the other so they might as well be the same anyway.

Your skill does nothing because some other player died once so you all wipe, leave the pf and kick the guy. Rinse repeat. Such non toxic content!

But people are salt mines and keyboard warriors in fl and rw. And yet you don't see them remove chat there. What I want is fair treatment. The chat DOESNT PREVENT toxicity and I think this is evidence that's being purposefully ignored. After matches I get messaged either in game or on discord and harassed by said player next match. So the chat restriction did nothing to prevent this. If the purpose of the restriction is to disarm toxicity, and it can't even do that. Tell Me... what is the point of it anymore?

Good players aren't toxic. Toxicity only comes from an inferiority complex, so players who actually take the time to learn how to be good don't act like this.

Players already freeze mid Match. I had 1 guy throw an entire natch because he got a no no marker (from throwing 2 other matches )

Imo pvp is the best content in the game. Jobs have identity and impact on the match, skill carries, the glam is sick and no match is ever the same. How is " and now it's time for light rampant wipe 1058" "ill give you special cells" the better content. It's so mindnumbing and repetitive it made my static quit raiding

Firstly - it is not competitive as much as you might think. Most people don't play for wins as only very few and massively grindy titles require wins ( prolly to turn pll off) not only that but almost ALL rewards can be obtained for loosing. Something I've confirmed people mostly play for - the rewards. I play to win since I'm grinding alpha wolf and 1/5 the way there, but I don't get super madge if my team looses, because I can just dm our weaker player and ask him if he knows his kit and how to improve. I had maybe 2-3 players dm me and say "you suck quit" when I ask them how quitting would make me improve they suddenly don't reply because it's a great way to shut them down. Ive had people tea bag me if i die ( i laugh it off brcause instead of doing the objective theyre standing there defensless, its even funnier when it gets them killed) ive had ppl ddos me (and my team Has still won) Toxicity is like rain. It happens. It's annoying. It won't kill you. So just ignore it. Thick skin if needed for everything in the adult world and you cannot let people come between you and your goals. Because trust me they will try
Secondly- it' brings out the worst in SOME pvp players. Not ALL pvp players.

The point is to mitigate toxic behavior that would disrupt a fast paced, low player count match during said match, not remove it. The concept of a full-proof system that can completely remove toxicity from a PvP mode is fanciful nonsense. Salt lords will find a way to vent their frustrations and be toxic. With a quick chat "I was not fighting so I could type to my team" is no longer on the table as an excuse. It strips people who want to freeze and afk as a retaliation of plausible deniability.

As for people being toxic and abusive outside of a match, that's outside of the match it's irrelevant to this conversation. If you do as much PvP as you claim, you should know the drill. Report them through proper channels. Expecting an in instance feature to prevent actions outside itself and outside the game is ludicrous.
