Pvp chat is an outdated system that doesn't work anymore

So it's been in the game as long as I have and while I understand why it's in the game. The lack of team based communication has been a massive negitive.

If for example there is a very skilled player on the opponent team.. I have basically no way of pointing this out. Or explaining how I can counter them. This HAS cost me many games. I instead have to find those players in my team through the pvp discord, message them after the game and tell them. Most of them by then don't even reply because it's pointless. If I am being focused down by 4 yes. 4 players. I have no way of communicating this. So noone helps me and I die. If somebody comes to the door, my controller dcs or anything makes it so i need to leave the game. I have no way of communicating this. So my team think I'm win trading or sandbagging intentionally. Sometimes if I'm lucky they even report me for it

I understand why chat was removed. But censoring toxicity isn't the way to counter it. For one. If somebody wants to be toxic.. they will just spam "nice job" "push the crystal' regardless. Something square enix claims they will take as a breach of tos ( I'll dig up the lodestone post later) or, they will dm me either in game or on discord and say I'm trash or whatever else. So what exactly did removing chat do to prevent this? Nothing.

Not being able to communicate with my team is costing us wins. Making players frustrated and not serving it's purpose.
Not to mention (I have HOM and Vanguard) that after almost 500 games of frontline and 200 of rival wings I've seen predominantly toxic, afk, win trading and intentionally dieng 0 dps players and far more toxicity. Why is it only cc should suffer this stagnant chat? When frontline and rival wings get away for free with much more toxicity.

Aye, the lack of being able to properly communicate is a large part of why I play Crystaline Conflict the least of all the PVP modes, and when I do drag myself into the queue, I just kinda play it brainlessly not even trying to figure out a plan of attack/target priority because it just isn't possible to nigh-pantomime to people what you're thinking/what they're thinking.

Yep feeling this, because it really deprives you of lots of learning opportunities. Higher ranked players will sometimes use strats and markings that casuals/lower-ranked players don't understand, such as using the bind symbol as a PLD while covering to indicate someone can use an elixir. I only learned this after very actively engaging with other pvp players above my level outside of CC games because I became really invested in CC.

Same goes for small things like the oasis buff on the red sands map. You can pretty much tell who is aware of it by the route they take at the beginning of the game. A quick "Hey, the oasis has a buff, you can use it to counter heat wave" would do so much.

But other people might not go to such lengths even though they like the mode and want to play ranked. So if something happens within a game that they can't make sense of they might not go out of their way afterwards to dig through reddit (if the topic is covered at all) to find out what it was. I also think many not-very-hardcore-but-still-moderately-invested CC players may not even know or at least not (actively) participate in the pvp revival discord channel either.

But if you could communicate with them right away in the game then they'll be able to learn a lot more new things as they go. As a learning experience it's also a lot more organic and more likely to stick since the feedback is provided in the same situation.
My friend sometimes gives me valuable feedback after matches we play together and sometimes I don't even remember the instances he refers to, even though I actively ask for his input, esp. if games are very eventful, fast-paced or hectic/chaotic.

Not to mention all the specific plays, job mechanics, counters and situational strategies but you already mentioned those.

I do understand the point of toxicity prevention in fast-paced games like CC where emotions might be even more heated than in longer battle modes (and I'm not gonna lie, when I started out as a pvp newb the lack of an open chat did make it more accessible to me because it decreased my beginner's anxiety a lot). But at the very least they should expand the current command list. It's so ridiculously limited and doesn't lend itself to communicate strategies or advanced calls at all.

Or make casual a closed chat and ranked an open chat perhaps. (Though I understand that on EU servers this would only be half of a solution because our ranked queues die after a few weeks and the skilled players would be stuck with casuals, ergo a closed chat, again.)

It's bs pvp arena players can't chat. There's toxicity among raid groups in PF, by that logic, they should lock chat for extreme, savage, and ultimate content.

I've never been told to never play my job again in raid. I have in pvp lol.

Pvp players are toxic on a whole other level.

When chat was allowed most of the games was just half of your team arguing with each other about why they should off themselves for playing a specific way/ using a specific strategy or job.

It was 4v4 then and most matches turned into 4 v 1's 2v2's etc. Rarely ever did all players compete because they were too busy throwing around insults for 6+ minutes.

I don't exactly like quick chat personally, but I don't know that it would be better with chat either.

It wouldn't be as big of an issue if the Quick Chat options in current PvP weren't so damn bad.

Imagine if they actually put some effort to them to bring them up on par with the ping systems of modern games, but nope they loop the few same sound effects for multiple things and have no visual indicators at all.

How hard would it be to just add those tracking aoe arrows from raids to people to show towards your own spawn point for few seconds when someone uses "Fall back and regroup" for example? How hard would it be to flash your MP % above your head in MP color when you use that for like 2 seconds?

They should just put hard stop to spam with built in cooldowns to the chat messages and make the quick chat actually useful if they aren't going to release the chat channel as is.

Also as side note, why are FC and other channels muted while in CC matches? It's super lazy from them to not just block the party chat but doing it to all channels.

Sure, if ya'll want Frontline's shout chat in CC, by all means. You'll just be providing the "nice job" spammers actual room to throw insults around while still being ignored by your team anyway lol.
    ------
I'm sure this won't lead anywhere toxic and everyone will be kind and productive.

Add competitiveness to anything, be it pvp or the 'barse' and you'll see toxicity in any game mode. PvP just feels very standard.

It's always funny to see the ping spam whenever the team isn't doing great. I get it that people are trying to win, but I honestly feel the ping system is abit limited....If people want to be toxic, they'll find other ways. People work around the 'be nice' by being passive aggressive/subtly shitty.

    That aside...

I can understand why chat is limited sadly, though at times I wish I could type something helpful in there, like warning my team etc, not everyone who is going to use the chat is going to be malicious about it. I feel like SE took the nuclear option, I never experienced feast before, so I don't know how it used to be like or what pushed SE to do this.

Matches last 5-6 minutes, I don't think there's much time to 'chat' anyway....I don't play CC anymore since it's usually against the same people here on chaos and it's very boring. It feels like the mode is pretty dead compared to how it was when it first came out.

Feast was a mess. People would intentionally sabotage matches for their friends to rank higher (hence why there's no longer party matching) and botting was pretty common iirc. So pretty much unless you were friends with the right people, botting your wins, or had some insane luck + skill...the top ranks were unreachable for the average person.
