Removing positionals would basically turn melee dps into phys ranged with how stupid huge hitboxes are now. I don't see the point beyond adding another layer of job homogenization to the game.

As a melee main (and clearing savage and ultimate before someone booh me being a casual doing low-end content), I think positionnals suck. There is nothing fun about it, nothing that requires skill either, you just have to do a small step to the side 80% of the time.
At best it keeps you awake during slow fights, but that doesn't make that interesting. This should not be the way to go (arguably a job or two can keep them as core of their mechanics, like Monk) and should be deleted imho.
Yes playing melee is getting more and more easier, but positionnals isn't the answer to that. That's just an annoying mechanic that brings nothing to the table and can be frustrating at times with how much boss reposition themselves.
That said, I won't make a tantrum if they stay, I don't really mind in the end (especially since now i'm maining reaper and they're very easy to plan ahead). But come on people, be honest, that's not an interesting mech and that doesn't require any skill.
Also it is irrelevant in solo, this alone should be a good reason to consider the deletion.
remove positionals and true north. it's just not a fun mechanic and frees up one keybind easily.

They're going to make hitboxes smaller so positional skill expression is going to be back.
That being said, I am not against the idea of removing positionals provided SE compensates the reduction in job difficulty with an increase in another area.
Skill expression will still mean being able to do small side step from left to right every so often.
That being called "skill" is a bit too much innit.
But yeah, I'm fine with it being replaced by something more interesting instead of just being deleted.
Another annoying thing about positionals is the lack of feedback for when you execute them correctly. If they stay there should be better audio, and visual cues for when you land them correctly. Just trusting that the damage number will be a little higher is not enough.

There should be an audio cue that pops when you miss them. Can enable or disable it in the options if it's annoying for some.Another annoying thing about positionals is the lack of feedback for when you execute them correctly. yeah I was just thinking about that, that an audio cue could get annoying pretty fast.
"Ding!.. Ding!.. Ding!.. Ding!
Having it as a toggle in the sound options would save this idea.
Also, just to add a little extra, maybe not just a toggle, but a slider.
So one can set it to 0% all the way up to 100%.
Some might want a quieter cue.
Guys, imagine if they added positionals to tanks. Finally I'd have plausible deniability when aiming a tank buster at the party.
