Squiggles, u so mad.
That said-
What you really had over there was a horrible experience. Can't say in all of my time playing MMOs (which amounted to the brazilian RO server and a tiny bit of CoH and then here) that I've had to experience such a horrible submission process to a LS. But all of your anger is kind of misplaced, it's definitely not the LS system that is the problem, but you simply ran into bad people.
It happens, human beings gather together being social, and that shit WILL happen. No matter how wrong it is, it's also natural, which is why I prefer my LSes to be made up only of friends. I suggest you get away from those people and seek out real friends, or perhaps make your own mini-group within this LS with the people you like, build up your own secondary shell, focus on the friendship! And then you do runs with them.
lootwhore is what you are
You guys understand that strong linkshells are built, right? That they're cultivated, often starting with a very limited number of people, and carefully crafted into something someone like the OP ultimately wants to join?
Yes, they actually have to be built, nurtured, maintained, etc.
They don't just fall out of the sky for the fortunate few wrapped with a bow.
So why are they obligated to give you a linkpearl again?
If you don't like the way endgame linkshells recruit or function, feel free to create your own and implement your own vision on how one should handle both.
The sense of entitlement on these forums and in this thread is fast approaching creepy, bizarre, and really, really absurd.
Since nobody reads page 2 of threads that carry on this long I'm going to quote myself.
The OP claims nobody has made any valid counter arguments to his self-entitled emo fit. I think that's a pretty solid one.You guys understand that strong linkshells are built, right? A linkshell isn't public property, it isn't a park or a beach or a museum that you have equal access to by right.
A linkshell was built from the ground up long before you applied (or chose not to apply) to it.
There have been plenty of people who have been rejected to my linkshell. Sometimes these people get pretty upset.
Want to know something? It doesn't affect us. We continue getting more Darklight, more Hamlet drops, more relic weapons, more this, more that, and more of whatever comes out in the future.
That `grind your gears,` brah? That the linkshell that inspired all your public raging, whatever linkshell that may be, probably doesn't care in the slightest and they're just continuing on with doing what they're doing? "U mad?"
I laugh at this thread in the same way that I laughed at all the bad players that argued for gil sinks to deplete the fortunes of all the "evil elitists" before 2.0 and then went on to complain when things are introduced that are too expensive for them. I don't think people think things through beyond their own envy.
Nothing is stopping you from starting your own linkshell that doesn't use an application process and invites anyone who wants a pearl. Guess what? It'll be called a "social." There's plenty of them that already exist on your server, I'm sure.
All your skilled players (if any would join you) will soon quit because of your lack of standards for membership will hold them back. Princess wipes will get old quickly.
All in all, I think you could have spared everyone having to read your long and irrational rant if you simply summed it up by saying:
"I'm not that good at this game. I'm not very motivated and I'm not flexible or willing to compromise and have a pretty bad attitude. Some linkshells have lots of cool gear and do lots of cool things. I don't and I likely never will because they don't want to play with me because I'm more a liability to them than an asset. I feel entitled to the fruits of other people's labor. This makes me extremely jealous to the point of throwing an emo and irrational fit on lodestone.
P.S. It's none of your business how others conduct themselves in this game. It's none of your business who others want to play with in this game. It's none of your business what standards are used for recruitment by linkshells you're not apart of in this game. Try doing something productive.
Oh, You like my axe, brah?
i gutz it wit allz my elitist friends while denyzing applications and ruinzing all ur funz
mwuhaha.

You know, Squiggles, this is a pretty small game, population-wise. If you make a name for yourself by helping those in need, and being good-natured instead of pissing and moaning, people will ask you to join their LS. It doesn't take much to build a reputation in this game, either positively or negatively.
You know what really grinds my gears. Every thread you make.
So why haven't you created your own linkshell?

OP.
You know your chances of you getting into a decent shell is now lower with this thread you made, along with the shout act you pulled in town back on sunday evening.
There are plenty of shells you can join without apps providing you have good reputation and well good playing skill, EG included. apps are just a formal way of knowing who you are.
