    It's not as simple as "get some DDoS protection" - I'm sure that SE, like every business with servers, has as much DDOS "protection" as they can get. But these attacks are variable and random, and they've having to analyze what's happening as it happens in order to understand and stop it.

    I gave up. You might as well count today as a loss. Game will die in less than six hours for a scheduled server maintenance. If you scheduled a day off to enjoy the game today, you're pretty much kaput!

    I can't even login all I get is a spinning circle. Why hasn't SE done anything to prevent these DDoS attacks.

    They really need to focus more on server security to block DDoS attacks instead of adding more servers. What good is adding more servers if one DDoS can just shut them all down.

    SE has probably done all it can, but a normal company can't stop or handle a large DDoS attack by itself. They need help from their ISP to stop the attack before it even comes close to the servers.

    Theoretically they could get much more powerful servers and a lot more network bandwidth so they could absorb a DDoS attack without problem - but then subscription prices would have to triple to pay for all the extra hardware that would just sit unused 99% of the time.

    Looks like the servers got rebooted, and now it seems to have a measure of stability again.
