It's been already a week and we're still getting daily ddos attacks. The game is barely playable yet our sub days are still counting. It feels straight up shitty, it's not square enix's fault they're getting attacked but this whole situation is getting ridiculous. Surely you'd think they'd invest in some measures to fight against it? Not to mention that we should be compensated with game time. I can't do anything in the game without disconnecting.

Seriously, we can't even progress in our static's savage raiding because this is happening DAILY. It's impossible to do anything in the game most of the time, can't even complete a single unsync dungeon for my HW relic without getting disconnected.

i agree cant even listen to music in my inn room for awhile without getting disconnected
and with these ddos attacks said disconnects prevent me from leveling my alts jobs(or any roulette/instance/raid/whatever)

You can't 'stop' a DDOS attack without taking the whole game down.. (and even then the attack will just begin again once the game goes back up). It's such a simple yet effective way of taking a network down because it's deliberately emulating legitimate network traffic (it's rather akin to pranksters causing a massive traffic jam by driving a convoy of cars in a tunnel going slow, and towing strings of cardboard boxes behind them). DDOS basically spoof internet connections to a server (such as the game servers) by making it clog up with traffic and eventually crash, so it's very difficult to quickly find the source and seperate legitimate connections from the attackers.

Usually these things sort of resolve themselves when the ones responsible tend to get bored and give up/accomplish their sinister goals at the same time as the system admins and network technicans mount countermeasures to block traffic from certain sources that they identify the attackers are using to access the network from, but that takes time, and further attacks are still possible as the attackers just use a different port or system to attack from, repeating the cycle.

Sometimes DDOS attacks are acutally political - one such attack on FFXI occurred at the same time there was a dispute between South Korea and Japan over a WWII memorial back in the 2000s and South Korean hackers responded maliciously towards Japanese companies and networks, including FFXI. That attack lasted over a month as a recall, and in the meantime FFXI kept going down due to the attacks.

FFXIV and FFXI have both suffered reoccuring DDOS attacks over the years, and this is no different. SE are doing everything they can do, like any company in their position. Just have patience.

I am normally pretty chillaxed about these things, but it has gotten out of hand. It's now been days, if not a full week!? and still dc several times daily from this DDOS. I have personally tried to:

- party dc 5 times at last boss in a MSQ dungeon that I had been in queue for 30+ min, we ended up loosing the instance
- dc during spectral current in ocean fishing
- dc after waiting for hours for a correct weather and time for a special fish for a quest
- multiple dc's while doing hunt trains

It is now starting to really PEEEE me off, there must be something that SE can do.

It needs to be addressed or there needs to be a public announcement about some sort of compensation.
