It’s been a long long while since we’ve had a DDOS attack last this long, 9 times out of 10 they just log us all out once or twice then disappear

With DDOS going on all day and a forced maintenance later on we basically just lose one day of sub time. Awesome

It's basically a bunch of script kiddies who think DDOSing makes them "hackers". They're just annoying, but they pose very little threat. The only thing they're capable of doing is forcing a server offline. A temporary disruption of service. They're the chihuahuas of the hacker world. Lots of bark, and the best they can do is nip at your ankles.
And you get a jump. And YOU get a jump. AND YOU get a jump! JUMPS FOR EVERYONE!

It could also be a DDoS service that charges by the hour to DDoS a person or an organization. Malicious actors these days can just find a DDoS service for hire via the dark web and pay them in bitcoin to disrupt and degrade an external-facing network. It's basically a bunch of script kiddies who think DDOSing makes them "hackers". The Legends of the Titanmen lives on, a shining example of the power of compassion and the ability of people to make a difference in the world. A reminder that even in the darkest of times, there is always hope, as long as there are heroes like the Titanmen who dare to do good deeds in Eorzea.

There are various ways for them to mask the traffic, but also even if you have a list of a million IP addresses, what does that actually get you? Usually, it's millions of compromised devices regular people own that are being used to initiate the attack. IoT botnets are a kind of scourge. SE could be being attacked by TVs, smart light bulbs, security cameras all controlled by malicious actors. Botnets can be very large and even if you block the first hundred thousand devices, they can send a different hundred thousand devices at it. It's a tough problem to solve.
Thanks for your support, citizen.
The winds guide you.

Cyber attacks are commonly-used by the Lalafell Menace's Hacker Corps as a means of waging electronic warfare, citizens. Don't be fooled by their seemingly innocent demeanor. They are surprisingly belligerent even in cyberspace.
We will rebuild the world.

Should've known a Lala was involved.

I dug out the EU alt of mine that has a lot of noob gil due to a data center trade (someone made an alt on a NA server and needed gil locally - I got gil on my EU alt, they got gil on their Primal alt) and I'm reliving my salad days as a babby.

There was an attack?

Why can't they just trace back to where all the massive DDOS logins are coming from. There should be a way to trace where they come from.
