Suggestion: Warning Pop-Up for when you're selling for NPC buyback price

I've noticed a pretty significant problem in the market board; people selling items for the same price or cheaper as it would cost to right-click on the item and select "Have Retainer Sell Items" to get the generic NPC sell price, the price that appears when you hover over an item and it says at the bottom of its description "Sells for __ gil".
In other words, the same price or sometimes even cheaper than the default "asking price" that's already inputted for an item when you go to sell it on the market board through a retainer. Players who clutter up the market board with these items seem genuinely unaware that they could sell it instantly to an NPC and not have to pay the additional market board taxes.
Although selling items for cheap on the market board is a nice thing to do for newbies who are struggling to afford items at the beginning of their game, it's also not helping the economy none. I feel that Square Enix seems to care a lot about keeping player prices healthy so I felt this topic was needed. I apologize if one exists already, I was struggling to find the correct and unique wording on how to describe this issue to search for it.

I also apologize if this is not the correct forum to put this suggestion to the dev team. Please let me know where to go next time if I made a mistake!

The game effectively already does that. When you put up an item for sale, the listing interface defaults to the sell to vendor price so the player will immediately know how much a vendor will give them for the item.

If a player chooses to change the default listing price to a lower price, that's their business.

I suspect what happens is that people initially list an item higher than the "sell to vendor price," and then after lowering the price a few times to stay at the top of the listings, inadvertently end up lower than the "sell to vendor price."

I don't agree with the wording of "effectively" in regards to doing it already, considering it's such a rampant issue. My concern is that it isn't clear enough, especially since people are lowering the price to stay on top of listings. It just seems like such a waste of time for all sellers involved, it truly baffles me if this is always on purpose.

This isn't an issue at all?

We are talking about a few hundred Gil at max, don't we? NPC selling prices aren't that high. Probably 5k to 10k for a very few selected items.

Selling an item for 46 Gil on the market board instead of 128 to an npc is usually what I see. A simple teleport is more expensive.

A much bigger issue is when people sell something for 100k instead of 1 mio because they messed up one decimal.

In germany we call that "paying tuiton fees".

It’s a good thing not to answer your enemies. I scarcely ever do. Perhaps Emily is more like me than I am like myself. Perhaps she would rather not answer her friends, even. She keeps it all in her heart.

Only the player pusting the listing can say whether they are doing it on purpose or not.

My question to you is why are you so concerned about items being listed below the sell to vendor value when those values are trivial in the first place. You know better. It's not something that you're going to do yourself. Those items are still going to be getting listed whether it's for 7 gil or 9 gil.

If you're thinking that prices on those low value items would suddenly skyrocket into something substantial, think again. The prices get that low because the supply generated through normal game play far exceeds the number of the item that players actually use.

If SE felt like having those items getting listed was causing issues with the marketboard database, they would change those items to be Market Prohibited forcing players to discard or sell the items to a vendor if they're not going to use them.

If a seller is choosing to waste their time, that is their business. It is a free market after all.
