Sadly no, I joined around Stormblood launch, so that was my first iteration I got to play. I remember watching mrhappy's retrospective on it, I'll have to give a rewatch soon.

I'd be interested to see a developed version of your quote to try out. I didn't get to mess with pet hp and sustain for too long. Though I did have experience with that like 5-6 years prior on WoW with warlock and hunter.
