    Getting rid of zoning in cities like Limsa in Dawntrail+?

    I wonder if they're ever going to unify all the zone in the city to reduce zoning black screen.

    It is not longer limited by PS3 memory, for example Limsa can just be one map without loading screen. Same for other cities.

    Maybe there is a huge rework on quest NPCs?

    They have to rework the cities entirely. The problem is, the different zones would not fit together if you would merge them into one zone.

    Cities would. They were all 1 big zone in 1.0 and the basic layout did not change at all in ARR. If you stand at any of the zone areas in a city the moment you step through the zone it will be the exact place you were just looking at. The only zone marker you would not be able to see this at is LL near the Aetheryte plaze because that is a small winding stairwell similar to Eulmore but a lot shorter and maybe 1 in Grid that is a short tunnel that has a turn in it, but you can still see the daylight peaking in the other side.

    Not really a city (Nim I guess ?), but I think Upper/outer la noscea should be merged ; now that you can fly over the lake they are literally touching ; I guess the main problem is that they are not scaled right

    They did that in 1.0 and the cities were laaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaggy. I remember when I played the first month it was just so bad. Zone lines may be inconvenient but they do serve a purpose.

    With how many people hang out in Limsa at the main Crystal in the lower decks I think it's safe to say the 4 people running around in the upper decks doing turn ins at the GC or questing aren't going to break the servers or anything. It would take some reworking of the maps where the connection points are but it's not impossible. Consolidating some of the older arr zones into bigger zones like we find in the expansions would also be pretty interesting to see.

    they added those breaks to the cities for 2.0 You use to be able to hang out side the spiral staircase on the outside in limsa and the chocobo stables use to be inside the bulwark area and you could watch people run up down from upper and lower. the issue for the lag was from a lot of things from certain objects having super super high polygon counts and also keeping retainers out to sell your ware. Limsa is crowded now because they relocated the aetheryte from upper to lower and got rid of the statue that use be where the aetheryte was. If anything that is the one thing I missed from 1.0 is the cities being one zone.

    At the very least I'd like to see the two segments put back together of each city, they dont need to be connected to the overworld.

    That was because of 1.0 issues. The cities were split because of the PS3's memory limitations. It's also the reason why they removed the fish tank in Limsa.
