I don't speak Spanish, but a lot of my friends do. I hope FFXIV will have a translation for it soon.

It would be great if it had a translation in Spanish, I have friends who did not want to try the game because of the English, but if they manage to translate it into Spanish they would be delighted to finally try this great game.

This seems to be one of the main issues I've seen. Either because the game is too story driven and it's an impossible task for them or because they don't want to invest in a game in which they don't feel valued as customers.

Do we want a dubbed version? Of course, and the Spanish industry is BOOMING right now, BUT, as most people have said so far, we would be more than happy simply with subtitles. Even if they started in ARR and worked their way up until DT like they did with Trusts patch after patch or something like that.

There are more players that know Spanish than players that know German or French. And yet they got their translation.

The reason German and French were translated where the laws of their respective countries that require that any game being sold needs to have a version on their language.

Spanish speaking countries do not do that, and thus Square didn't care to invest money on a translation. Even if there are far more translators from Japanese to Spanish than from Japanese to German or French.

So is not a "we wanted to translate to German and French" but more of a "we like money and translating to German and French would bring us more money. Meanwhile those in latin America would probably use the English version, for reasons"

Doing it now would require a considerable investment due to being the text of 5 expansions. Plus the voice acting. So I seriously doubt they will. If they wanted to they would have done so in ARR.

A large population of two continents speak spanish. It seems ridiculous to me not to localize it to spanish. In pure numbers and financial considerations, German, a language accommodated by the game, is less valuable than spanish at 96.58 million worldwide speakers, compared to the almost 500 million spanish speakers worldwide. While it would take a lot of work, and time, it is absolutely worth the money for the vast market it opens the game up to.

Yoshida saw our post! I'm so glad!
Even tho they said no one showed to translate the game, me myself could work on it but I have no idea, nor has seen in their web anywhere to send my CV.
Same happend with other people I know that can translate from jp to spanish, we just don't know where to send them.
Please if you happen to see this Yoshida-san or anyone from SE japan, please tell us!
For now I'll keep working on the spanish fandub as always!

This is actually really interesting and I support this.

To be fair, purely in profit statistics, Germany and France bring in the most revenue in the gaming industry over any spanish speaking country. But this doesn't mean the game doesn't have a large spanish speaking population. SE just has to see if it's worth the cost and if it has enough profit. At the end of the day, it is still a business.

As a developer, it no doubt gives me sweaty hands to think of such an undertaking with a game this massive and still maybe even an expansion or two in the works. Knowing SE, I don't think it's in their habit to do things half assed for lack of better words: they would want the language done in full (text, UI, voice acting, advertissements). Which would be cool because immersion is a way to learn a language and it would be cool to learn it.

But I do wonder. Supposing there is a go ahead and knowing how many different types of spanish there are (dialects, regions, idioms, nuances, etc) which would you use?

It was hard for me to take the initiative to start playing just because the game wasn't translated, but finally I decided to give it a chance and it was just THE BEST DECISION but... at the same time I was always feeling I was missing details of the history and it doesn't feelt right... and it was just because of the lack of the spanish option as a language.

I also have a some friends that I know that would enjoy the game, because they are really fans of others games of the FF saga, and also MMO players, but they doesn't give it the chance just because it isn't translated, they say that being a game with a monthly payment the less they expect is to have the game in their languages in order to really enjoy it... and... that's sad, but also logic.

I hope that the game is really translated into Spanish, not only for me (even if that would encourage me redo the entire story) but also to be able to enjoy the game with those friends...
