Yeah, I appreciate the sentiment, but the number of times I've found a macro tied to an ability to be both funny and informative is effectively zero in casual content. I honestly find they work better in high end content because they can be inside jokes with your static. When the countdown begins and includes the macro text for "Food check Kardia check Stop sucking check..." We can all have a little laugh because it's a joke between friends. If some random person was hitting me with the "stop sucking check" I would debate with myself if I want to read it as a joke, or some passive aggressive swipe. And a funny rez macro or whatever might be funny... one time, but by the second use it's no longer funny, and more often than not, they're either creepy or just accidentally condescending... and I'm giving the benefit of the doubt by saying it's an accident.

If you're trying to inform people of mechanics they don't understand, just wait for them to show signs of not understanding it at least. To everyone else it's passive aggressive no matter how positively you put a spin on explaining how Living Dead works. If you're trying to tell a joke, maybe a macro's fine as a stand alone thing to not have to type it in the moment, but just deploy the joke when it's time to tell a joke, don't tie it to an ability that might force you to tell the joke every 30 seconds.

Not a fan of ability macros. They're not usually very funny and just clog my chat.

Well 1313, account created in April 2024, and 19 posts, I would be cautious about trying to make macros to have fun in group content with strangers. Everyone has a different idea of what is fun and enjoyable. Some, for reasons that elude me, enjoy talking using Twitch.tv memes and sayings. Some, like myself, enjoy old memes and absurdist humour.

If you want to be funny and make the dungeon run more enjoyable, then let that come out in your chat/character/glamour. Be fun

a living dead macro might pop up teice in a dungeon, thats alright. for new players though its mostly too stressful to read it in the middle of the pull. and even if they do they first have to comprehend that while doing everything else including healing. its good for players who know about living dead but barely for sprouts.

and for the bubble... just make a macro you can use when people actually avoid the bubble... but let me guess, button bloat?

No bloat at all, I have Asylum on my bar twice. Both macro'd with <t> and a <wait.1> before a second /ac asylum <t> for ease of use on controller, which allows me to also weave it. One with text and one without. Still, it only gets used 3-5 times in a 15 minute-ish run. That one line of text , if I used the one with text every time (I don't) would likely be buried under fc chat, or linkshells, or system messages, etc. anyway.

So I can see the use of some macros but yeah the ones tied to most skill I just want scream after the 3rd time
This, I think it's useful for Summoners and Red Mages to have chat rezzing macros as it lets the healer know that they have got that person. If I have a swift ready to go I wanna let that healer know that I can rez.

If you really, really wanna use chat macros in content, please for the love of God, make them useful

Instead of something cringy, try a macro that pairs with a high impact skill that'd be better if others knew it was going off. Say a raise macro to prevent the other healer wasting MP, or a Living Dead or Superbolide macro to let the healer(s) know you need healing ASAP.

I use a Living Dead macro to make sure I don't die when I use it, though I think it was changed to prevent that in EW? Idk, why would I play DRK when WAR is a thing!

(Living Dead) (Just used it) (Heal!)

    Or, for a raise one:
