this is pretty common with DLCs for games that have proper ends...or even games that don't have proper ends. You can absolutely go do Dragonborn in Skyrim before ever tackling the main quest in any meaningful way, but that DLC came out years after the game released for instance. Sonic Fronters' The Final Horizon update is an alternate last fourth of the main game, requiring no game completion, and came out like a year after the game released. The only real major game I've played that released DLC that required main story completion because it continues the story is......the latest Pokemon games of all things.

Ironically Baldur's Gate 3 came out the same year with rpg elements that eclipse anything FF has done in its history and sells tens of millions of copies and was objectively the game of the year.

I expect FFXVII in 2033 to be another attempt at Dante-fying the franchise. I expect XVII to not have long cutscenes, it'll be 90% gameplay, 10% on the fly dialogue; a quick 10-12 hours adventure like most DMC games; they're going to stop pretending FF is an rpg series.
Yep, thats true. FFXVI sold quite well so I fully expect SE to create another game just like it to mirror that success. But I have a feeling they'll continue to release more RPG games in the future too because it's a safe option and is something that SE can fall back on. As long as it's turning a profit, SE will do everything they can to squeeze every dollar out of it.

It's a cash grab, nothing more. I'm sure there are fans who bought it as soon as it was released. It's probably a discarded sidequest that was meant for the original release of the game, but SE couldn't have it ready by the deadline, so they just removed it from the game and put it on the shelf for a while. Then later they repackaged it as DLC and slapped a price tag on it.

Yeah, I hope so too. The amount of failed projects from SE recently has been astonishing to say the least. Who at SE thought games like Marvel Avengers, Symbiogenesis, and Balan Wonderworld were good ideas. Forspoken could've been salvaged if they had just put some effort into it.

The Legends of the Titanmen lives on, a shining example of the power of compassion and the ability of people to make a difference in the world. A reminder that even in the darkest of times, there is always hope, as long as there are heroes like the Titanmen who dare to do good deeds in Eorzea.

That doesn't mean it gets a free pass on lackluster writing\content\systems.

Agreed, citizen. The FFVII Remake is putting up good numbers. There will always be a market for the fans of the original greats.

I wouldn't be surprised at all if there was an FF8 remake in the future too, lmao.

Indeed, citizen. Using the same formula too: one game split into a trilogy with many added features. That's not to say it's a bad thing. The added depth to the remake is what makes it so good.

I'd hope a potential FF8 remake does follow that same formula. It's been fun watching other people play FF7R on Twitch because it has excellent movie-quality cutscenes. In fact every thing has been great about it so far.
