They've been 'not overworking their team' for a gooooooood while now, so much so they can't even add tail holes or make hats accommodate non-human ears anymore... maybe they should be overworking their team by now?

hah they haven't bothered with that stuff properly since ARR only few pieces in HW-EW have them & funny thing is none of the tail outfit changes apply to Aura tails on any of that ARR gear like Miqo have actual pieces removed from tail region whilst Aura just clip through.

If overworking their team is the issue, they could also just...hire more people? It's not like SE is some small indie studio that doesn't have the money to do so. They would just rather throw their money at crappy NFT games and other trash than take good care of their big cash cow.

Of course, citizen. Square heard of a new way to make money and scrambled together a poorly designed plan to capitalize on it only to find that most people see NFTs as worthless.

SE will always look for ways to maximize profits, whether thats cutting costs by not hiring adequate numbers of employees or trying to create cash grabs like NFT games. Their priority is paying dividends to their investors. Oh, and probably giving hefty bonuses to senior management too.

Many gaming companies struggle at the moment. They had too high expectations because Covid-19 boosted the game consumption. And they expected, that this will stay. But it did not.

That was crushed many years ago. Even the mobile remake was an insult.

It's not just the exclusivity, it's the content. I didn't buy the last couple titles because, quite frankly, they are mostly sausage fests. Contrast that with some of their other titles over the years (like this one) where I bought the console SPECIFICALLY to play them.

They need to appeal to a more broad audience and they have really been missing the mark. And I don't mean all female casts, either - those are just as unbalanced. Just... tell a story with a balanced cast of characters. Switch it up who is the lead every now and again. Stop dumbing down your cash cow titles - I can't even believe what XIV has turned into. Folks want to be challenged and have interesting encounters with epic monsters on their way to solving real problems.

I'd like them to do some real focus groups with players - both older generation players that grew up with FF titles from the start and folks who are new to the franchise. I'm willing to bet there's more overlap in what the players *actually* want than SE thinks there is.
