The difference is, NA player have place in NA to play on their own server, it's not a problem for them if NA doesn't have reason to play in JP and can't speak their language. SEA region doesn't have and the only destination is JP, we "have to" play in JP.

I've playing in Japan for years and I'm in NA.

Frankly I think the test for Materia Regional Travel is the opening for having that travel everywhere.

for the longest time, they didn't even recognize us as a country, like I bought so much stuff from Japan but for some reason, SE just will not admit Singapore is a country, any physical items they don't even bother to ship to Singapore

I am at a point of thinking, does Japan hate Singapore that much?
