Wife unable to do alliance raid roulette once she hit 60.

I seem to be having some kind of bug. My wife recently started playing and I made a new character to level and play with her. I have been going around doing all the unlocks with her. We finished ARR ultimate weapon, so I took her over to unlock the crystal tower raids. We unlocked them and did all 3 alliance raids the first night.
My wife doesn't really bounce around on characters. She only has summoner/scholar leveled and now she's 60. For some reason when I try and que up for alliance raids after her hitting 60, it says that she doesn't meet the requirements. She has all the 130 iron works gear...but its saying she needs an item level of like 175 to que for alliance raid roulette. On my screen it says I need an item level of 70. When I drop group I can que solo. I also had her unlock redmage and samurai...and if she switches to red mage, she is able to queue up with me...but she doesn't really wanna have to switch jobs to do the alliance raid roulette...it seems like it's trying to put her into heavensward alliance raids with the item level requirement it's telling her, but we haven't even unlocked heavensward yet. We are just past the ultimate weapon. In the duty roulette options, the only one I have checked is the one that allows it to put us in already in progress groups. Hers is the same. Is there another option somewhere she might have messed with thats preventing her from queueing?

Nope. This was a change they made recently. Working as intended.

Not a bug, this is completely intended behavior. Your wife is level 60, therefore she needs HW gear to queue for AR Roulette. This is because people used to game the system by unequipping gear to guarantee that they would queue into one of the ARR ARs.

Nope, they added an ilevel requirement to alliance raids to match where someone's adventurer level is but they forgot to add an MSQ progress qualifier. So they lock out characters that are above the level of the content they're doing but can't access higher level gear yet because it's still locked behind their MSQ progress.

It was because people blamed getting Crystal Tower a lot on people who would de-gear before queueing but that wasn't remotely the issue. Now they're hurting innocent players with this.

It's not a bug but it's a terrible system. There's nothing to "game" if you haven't even unlocked higher level duties.

"Hurting" is an exaggeration. OP's wife is level 60 so she doesn't need the xp. She also has ilevel 130 gear so she doesn't need the drops or the extra tomestones from roulette. Those 3 raids can still be queued for by selecting them individually instead of using Alliance Roulette.

I appreciate the replies. I wasn't aware of this. For the last year I have basically only logged in once a month to keep my houses. She will also be happy to hear about this. When I mentioned to her yesterday that I didn't know what the issue was, and that I might have to make her some gear on my other character so that she could do it with me, she was like "yeah that's definitely what we should do baby, just to make sure, yanno" lol. But I still feel bad for those who just start out and take it slow, trying to unlock everything and haven't really started leveling other jobs yet.

Unless she's using tomes for an alt class which is a smart thing to do when you're leveling quickly. It's a decent amount for the roulette that you don't get when you queue directly. The drops are also still good for alt classes while you're gathering tomes for them. We forget as endgame players what the newbie experience is really like. That's why I started my Dynamis alt and try to play her like a sprout.

The drops are also still good for alt classes while you're gathering tomes for them. We forget as endgame players what the newbie experience is really like. Even at that level if you are desperate for tomes for alt classes there are better ways than the alliance roulette

The alliance roulette also needs to actually do its job of popping the high level raids which even now it struggles to do

At first I agreed with others that this seemed like it is working as intended, but this line changed my mind and makes it seem like an oversight on the developers' part; to expect someone to have Heavensward gear when they are still in ARR is silly. It would be trivial for the game to check for this, and presumably it's a mistake that it currently works like this.

I would recommend reporting this as a bug; if it's happening to you, it's probably happening to others as well, and hopefully the devs can fix it!
